Summer Dress by Shabby Apple on www.girllovesglam.com

Sometimes I decide to do something brave. I am not usually one who chickens out when it comes to trying new pieces of clothing, but there are a few trends that I shy away from. I haven’t really learned to embrace the tighter fitting dresses that have become popular. I have always worried that it would make me look enormous.  [Read more…]

What I Wore: Mother Daughter Date

Simply Sage Market Summer Fashion for Mom and Preschooler on www.girllovesglam.com

This summer will be the year mark of when we moved to this area. It has been an interesting move for us. We moved from a city of about 60,000 people to a town of about 8,000 people. Our old house was out in the country and we felt SO far away from everything! We were actually only 15 minutes away from just about everything we could need. Here, we drive over an hour to get to Costco, Target, etc. It was been kind of a crazy change for us! For several months, I kind of pouted about it. I missed my old life, old friends, and being close to my family. It wasn’t until [Read more…]

Perfect Summer Nights Outfit

Perfect Summer Nights Outfit on www.girllovesglam.com

Summertime is all about the summer nights for me. I love how long the sun stays up, the chill of the summer breeze, and the fun activities that happen in the evenings. I have big plans of attending many BBQ’s and a lot of the free concerts they offer in my area this summer. Putting together an outfit for a summer night is all about light layers, while keeping the feeling [Read more…]

LulaRoe: Cutest Clothes with Work from Home Opportunity!

I have been a fan of LulaRoe for a long time. I didn’t get the opportunity to buy anything from LulaRoe until I spoke at an expo last year. One of the vendors there was an independent LulaRoe business owner and I was SO excited to finally get to shop! I got the cutest black and white dress. I have worn it to several events and as an everyday dress. I have been able to style it several ways too. It is my favorite dress by far. I remember leaving that expo and calling my mom. I told her all about how cute the clothes were and that we had to find someone who could become an independent LulaRoe business owner! Both my mom and I were in careers that we enjoyed and it wasn’t something that would be right for us, but I wanted to find someone who would do it, so I could support them and buy these amazing clothes from them. Sadly, I forgot to really look into it after that day.

I was approached by Sadi, an independent LulaRoe business owner about reviewing an outfit on my blog and I was thrilled!

Summer Swim Essentials

I know that most of you probably don’t know me personally, but I will let you in on a little secret that most people who do know me personally know… I LOVE water parks! I have never lived close to a water park, so going to a water park was always a special event for me. I love to swim, I love to float around in the lazy rivers, and to go down water slides. To me, water parks represent everything that summer should be! In our area, we have a pretty sweet YMCA that has a nice indoor swimming facility with a small lazy river and one water slide. It seems silly, but I am so excited to have that nearby!

I love finding new swimwear each year. I grew up absolutely hating swimming suit shopping. It is sad that I felt that way from such a young age. All of my insecurities would come when I would try on bathing suits. The older I have gotten, the more I have realized that being insecure in a swimming suit should be the least of my worries. I remember going to a water park when I was in high school and seeing a mom there who was pretty overweight, but it didn’t keep her from flaunting her body in a bathing suit and playing with her kids. I don’t think that anyone there would have judged her for the way she was shaped in that moment. I was so impressed with her confidence and her willingness to get in and play! I wanted to be just like that when I became a mom.

I have learned a lot about my body over the years. I have learned what types of suits fit me well and make me feel confident while I am in them. I have always loved Lime Ricki swimwear! I own three of their suits and I added another one to my bathing suit collection this year!

Spring Wardrobe Update

Spring cleaning season is upon us. I have found myself knee deep in my closet as I clean out the clothes I don’t see myself wearing again and the clothes that I can set aside for the cold weather seasons. It seems like every season I go through this same ritual and find myself in the same position. I don’t feel like I own any clothes! I usually have to shop for a few items and then I feel like I am ready for the current season. This year, I really wanted to find a good jacket, a pair of flat shoes, and some sandals to complete my Spring wardrobe.

The Modern Mom Uniform

I am a busy mom. There are a lot of days that I don’t get to put much thought into what I wear from day to day, so I have made it a point to purchase a few great separates that I know will look good together. I can grab those and make an outfit out of them without having to give it much thought. I try to choose high quality clothing that I know will last and will fit well too! If I start getting sick of an outfit, I try wearing a different accessory or different shoes to make the outfit feel different.

Most days when I do this, I feel great! I have chosen these pieces because I know they will make me look and feel great. The days that I have noticed that I don’t feel as great are the ones that I haven’t paid enough attention to my hair and skin. Recently, I made a little rotation I go through with my hair that has really helped out. [Read more…]

Easter Sunday Style: Toddler Edition

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. I loved growing up with the tradition of having a big Easter egg hunt with my cousins on the Saturday before Easter. I loved waking up on Easter morning to find goodies from the Easter bunny, getting in a fancy dress, and spending time at church that day. It has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons.

It is fun to pass on some of these traditions to my daughter, now that I am a mother. I hope that one day she can look back and have sweet memories of the Easter holiday like I do. [Read more…]

Blue and Black Dress… Or is it Gold and White?

First of all, can I just say that when the whole blue and black or gold and white dress craze was happening, I never once saw it as a gold and white dress. I am still convinced everyone else is a little crazy who saw it that way. I thought for certain that it was some weird prank, until I showed the picture to my daughter and asked her what color it was. She looked at it and said, “White and orange” and it totally blew my mind!

Now, when I see this cobalt blue and black dress hanging in my closet, all I can think about is that crazy dress that went viral!
