Pink Scalloped Dresser Makeover

We are in full blown nesting mode at our house, trying to get ready for baby number two. Part of our plan to make room for baby was to move the queen sized bed in the guest bedroom into Harper’s room so that the guest bedroom could become baby’s room. The guests will still get to sleep in the queen bed when they come to visit and Harper will sleep on the air mattress. It took a little convincing but she finally got excited about getting a big bed. Part of getting her excited was telling her that we could give her room a little makeover at the same time. We pretty much just decorated her room since we have only been in this house for a year, but there were a few other things we could do to make her feel like this was a special experience for her and she wasn’t just getting kicked out of her little bed. One of the things that we decided to do was refinish her dresser. I LOVE how it turned out!

Bright and Happy Little Girl Bedroom Reveal

Ever since we moved, I have wanted to tackle the project of decorating my daughter’s room and it just kept not happening. It is so unlike me to be living somewhere for 6 months now and not have almost every room decorated by now. Thankfully, I had a very persistent 4 year old who reminded me (often) that I needed to decorate her room! It is finally finished and it is now my favorite room in the whole house! We are renting the house that we are in, but I think it is important to make every house we live in feel like home.

The transformation wasn’t enormous, but it has made a huge difference for us because it is a place that we want to be to play, read, and just hang out together as a family before bedtime. This is what it was like before. [Read more…]

Makeup Makeover: Crystal from A Pumpkin and a Princess

Makeup makeover for Crystal, of the blog A Pumpkin and a Princess.

I remember being pretty intimidated to meet Crystal from the blog, A Pumpkin and a Princess a few years ago. When I say meet, I mean online. I was starting a little group where we would chat about blogging topics and someone had suggested having her join in. If you have seen her blog you would know exactly why I was intimidated. This girl has serious talent! As soon as she opened her mouth, I knew I didn’t need to be intimidated at all! This girl is literally one of the nicest humans I have ever met!

A few months later, I met her in real life and she was even better when there wasn’t a computer screen between us. Since then, we have been to many more conferences together and I enjoy every second hanging out with her. This girl LOVES beauty products… maybe even more than I do if that is even possible. She was nervous about doing her makeup last year and she asked me to do her eye shadow one day. I taught her a few tricks and she really liked what we came up with. This year, I convinced her to let me play with her face some more for her very own Girl Loves Glam makeover!

Girl Loves Glam Makeover: Crystal of A Pumpkin and a Princess

Now, this obviously isn’t an everyday look. It is pretty glammed up, but I wanted to make Crystal look like the foxy momma she is! Blog conferences are fun because it gives moms a chance to get dolled up, without worrying about real life and I wanted to let Crystal embrace that (in a total glamorous way) for the day!

Girl Loves Glam Makeover with Natalie on www.girllovesglam.com

I absolutely love this girl! Natalie was one of my very first blogger friends that I ever made. She is hilarious, beautiful, and crazy talented! She is half of the talent of the blog, My Sister’s Suitcase. Natalie has a lot going on in her life. She is a mom of three, she blogs, she is a wife, and she just moved! She deserved this makeover! She wanted to have a look that felt natural, but made her feel like a million bucks.

A Makeover

I have wanted to start doing makeovers on here for a while now, but just kept putting it off. I really enjoy doing makeovers, but just wasn’t sure if I wanted to jump on the bandwagon of doing them on my blog. After debating it for months, I decided to jump right in when my friend Christi asked me if I would help her glam up her look. She is a mom of four boys who keep her busy with their extra curricular activities and her job at a daycare. She deserved a glamorous look that made her feel fabulous!

My First House Swan Song

As the week starts, I am pretty overwhelmed with feelings about closing on our house. There will be a new family moving in this weekend. I really am a total basket of emotions inside. I feel happy that the right person walked through our house so quickly. I feel relieved to be leaving the stress of home ownership for a little while while we rent. I feel sad to be leaving my family behind in Idaho Falls. I feel heartbroken to leave the beautiful memories that we created as a family by becoming first time parents in that house. I feel torn to leave all of my work in that house.

I can’t help but think of that episode of Glee where they all sing their final swan songs to give a proper goodbye while representing themselves. I think it is only appropriate to do the same for my first-cutest-little-high maintenance-old-quirky house.

My First House Swan Song: All of the home projects that happened in this house. Tons of links to great home tutorials in one place on www.girllovesglam.com

We bought this house in January 2011. It was old, quirky, and very brown. All but two of the rooms in the house were brown. Those rooms were dark green and what my husband liked to refer to as daycare blue. The paint colors weren’t our favorites, but we knew we could change them easily. I started with painting the daycare blue room a gorgeous celery green. It served as my craft room for less than a year before it was turned into our tiny little muchkin’s bedroom. We had one room painted and many, many more square feet to cover.

How to Paint Cabinets and Add Hardware {Kitchen Makeover}

Holy flippin’ crap guys! I have been SO excited to show you my latest, craziest project that I decided to take on… my kitchen makeover!

How to paint cabinets and hardware on www.girllovesglam.com

Let me start by saying that it at first, my plan was to paint my kitchen (Crushed Ice from Sherwin Williams), get a new faucet, and add hardware to my cabinets. All of that happened, but as soon as I decided I wanted to put in a faucet, it became clear to me that I needed a new sink too. You can see my full sink transformation and tutorial to install a sink and faucet HERE. Once I installed my sink, I put my gorgeous new hardware up against my oak cabinets and my heart instantly dropped. It looked hideous. Like honest to goodness freaking ugly. Gorgeous brushed nickel isn’t supposed to go up against orange looking oak cabinets people. That’s when I got my next crazy idea… painting my cabinets. It couldn’t be that hard, right? I am going to share with you my tips on how to paint your kitchen cabinets and add hardware to them too! First though, let’s take a look back to my ugly kitchen before any of my kitchen transformation began. [Read more…]

Living Room Makeover REVEAL!

You’ve seen the paint color, the gallery wall, the furniture, the triangle art wall, the functional decor, and the pictures that I am using in my living room but you haven’t seen how they all come together yet. Well, I am happy to say (or sing, rather)…

Da, da, da, don. Da, da, da, da, don. Da, da, da, don. Da, da, da, da, don, da, don, da, da, don, da, da, don, don, don, DA, DON, DA, DA, DA, DA DON….

It’s the final countdown people.

It is finally time for the moment you have all been waiting for… My living room makeover reveal!

Because I know you would rather see pictures than listen to anymore of my singing, I will grant you your wishes to see the reveal very soon. But first, let’s take a little trip back in time. So let’s all put on our puffy vests and hop in my DeLorean for a little trip back in time to see what my living room used to look like.

Living Room Before Makeover

Living Room Before

Blehhhhh. That’s all I have to say about that. Dark and boring. Besides the giant picture of my family, it looked like someone else lived in my house. There wasn’t anything about the design that I felt really represented who we are as a family. I am happy to report that isn’t the case anymore. Are you ready to see the reveal?

Mocern Living Room Makeover on www.girllovesglam.com #homedecor

BAM! Miracles really do happen. With the relatively small budget that I had to work with, I was able to transform the space into a place where I feel like truly represents my family. It all started with a can of Sherwin Williams paint that instantly brightened up my space. My love of Sherwin Williams Crushed Ice color runs deep to my very core!

Because my house is fairly small, our living room is the only space that can house our dog kennel. I tried really hard to find another space for the giant kennel we have for our tiny dog, but I just couldn’t do it. I do feel like having so many fun details all around the room kind of keeps your attention enough to make you forget about the giant black metal elephant in the room. I got the yellow rug from rugs.com on their Black Friday sale. You HAVE to shop that sale for the best deals on rugs. I got this puppy for 70% off with free shipping!

I love the little pop that my triangle art wall brings to the room and the artwork that I was able to display. I chose not to replace every piece of furniture I owned because it just wasn’t in the budget, so I kept my TV stand for now. For now, it works. When it gets warmer outside, that will most likely either turn a different color, or be replaced entirely. P.S. See the kitchen peeking through the doorway? That’s one of my next projects!

Living Room Makeover: Couches & Giveaway!

I was provided with a $100 sponsored DownEast gift card, but was not otherwise compensated for this post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

 DownEast Home Couches and giveaway

Things are really starting to come together in my living room makeover. I am just putting the final touches on everything before you finally get the big reveal to see how it all came together. When I first decided to take on this project, I knew I wouldn’t have the budget to get all new furniture. I decided to choose just one area in the furniture department that I felt like could make the most impact on my space and change that. I knew that couches were going to be that area. The only problem with couches, is that they can become very expensive, very quickly! Especially when you start getting into the nicer, more modern styles. Well, that isn’t the case when you shop at DownEast Home! They even have a great website to help you browse their furniture collections so you know what to look for when you go to the store! Check it out here.

DownEast Home Couches

I was able to get both of these beautiful couches for the price that similar couches are listed for per piece! I can’t believe how modern it makes the entire space look. You can get a small glimpse of what the space is looking like, but not all of it just yet. You are going to have to wait! For now, let’s just take a moment to embrace the awesomeness that is these couches.

The fabric that these couches are made of will be great with a busy toddler too because of the texture and the durability. They will be able to hide the random messes that seem to happen on couches.
