Glam Fall Makeup Look

I love making my makeup a little more moody as the seasons change. After a summer full of light and airy makeup, I am ready to bring on the rich colors of Fall. This glam Fall makeup look can easily be worn as an everyday look if it is paired with a little less dramatic lip color and looks fantastic for a night out with an even more dramatic lip color! I love how regal it feels, without being over the top and difficult to recreate.

When I do my makeup like this and really try to focus on my eye makeup, it is important that I wear contacts. I have experienced doing my makeup in the past, only to have to wear my glasses and it just kind of takes away the effect! I find my ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses just as important in my beauty routine as my actual beauty products. I have absolutely loved these ACUVUE®  VITA® Brand Contact lenses that were so highly recommended to me during my Target Optical® visit.

To create this eye makeup look, I used one eyeshadow palette with many neutral options. I love having a palette like this because I can find every color I need in one place. I also used a liquid eyeliner pen and volumizing mascara. [Read more…]

Pumpkin Pie Bath Bomb Recipe

It is the time of year when all things are pumpkin spice. I am actually not a fan of the taste of pumpkin spice, unless it is in the form of pumpkin bread or pumpkin cookies! I do, however, love the smell of pumpkin. That’s why I knew that October’s recipe needed to be a pumpkin pie bath bomb!

When Life Gives You Lemons

Wednesday was going to be a busy day at our house. It was a busy day, just not exactly how we had planned. I had been working for a few days leading up until Wednesday to finish our Halloween costumes. We were going to have a family photo shoot so that I could share our costumes with you all next week. I also was going to take some photos in a darling long cardigan that I have been wearing non stop. We of course had school, errands, and other work related items on our agenda. The next thing I knew, all of those plans changed. When I went to pick up Harper from school, she wanted to show me her new trick. Her new trick was doing the monkey bars. I think she was a little overly excited because she started a little too quickly and almost as quickly as she was up on the monkey bars, she was down. She fell straight on her back, with her arm behind her back. She started screaming instantly and I was sure she had just broken her arm.

I scooped her up and ran her into our van and drove home, right down the street to ask Dave for his opinion and it wasn’t 30 seconds later that we were heading to the doctor’s office. We went to our family doctor who took x-rays and confirmed my suspicions… broken wrist and elbow! We were sent straight to the orthopedic surgeon where there were more x-rays and a lot more tears. Finally, there was a little relief when Harper finally got a splint put on.

As we were driving home, I looked in my rear view mirror and looked at my little girl who was sleeping in her booster seat. She looked exhausted. Suddenly all of those missed errands, unanswered emails, and unfinished business didn’t matter anymore. None of our plans had worked the way we had “planned”, but that was okay.

Being a mom

So instead of the beautiful planned, staged, and styled photos that I had planned to take of my new favorite Cents of Style cardigan, I will show you how I have been wearing it these past two days. Big sister won’t let us cuddle her because she is in too much pain, but we play on the couch and on the floor next to her, so she doesn’t feel like she is all alone.  [Read more…]

Easy Chunky Braided Scarf Tutorial

It’s time for another installment of Throwback Thursday, people! Now that Fall is in full force and winter is peeking just around the corner, it is time for ALL of the layers! This chunky braided scarf is still one of my most favorite accessories I have ever made. Since I am NOT one to knit or crochet, braiding seemed like the best option for this stellar scarf.

No Sew Faux Leather Thanksgiving Table Runner

It is Throwback Thursday again! Now that Halloween has come and gone, are you the type to decorate for Thanksgiving or do you jump straight to Christmas? I like to give Thanksgiving its own glory before jumping into Christmas, mostly because I don’t like all of the clutter that comes with Christmas decor and having it up this early would drive me crazy. I like to decorate pretty minimally when it comes to Thanksgiving. It gives me a nice break between the Halloween and Christmas decor. I mostly just keep out the pumpkins that don’t look overly Halloween and then add a few more things to turn it into Fall decor.

One of my favorite pieces of Fall decor that I like to pull out each year is my faux leather Thanksgiving table runner that I made several years ago. It is still a favorite of mine after all of these years and it is today’s Throwback Thursday!

Leaf Covered Pumpkin Fall Decor

It’s Thursday! Time for another Throwback Thursday, blog post edition. Today features one of the easiest tutorials I have ever posted on my site. This leaf covered pumpkin fall decor is not only easy to create, but it is down right adorable too. I love that it can be used both as Halloween and Fall decor. I don’t have to pack it away once Halloween is over. I really want to find different varieties of leaves and pumpkins to add to my collection as well!

Fall Maternity Look (without Maternity Clothes)

Photos by Stayc Smart. This post contains affiliate links.

Buying maternity clothes is a real struggle for me. Sometimes I feel like all of the maternity clothing companies got together and decided to price their maternity clothes double what they price their other clothing for. I really don’t own many maternity pieces, but I haven’t had a problem finding great non-maternity clothing that totally works on my ever growing belly.

Easy Fall Confetti Nail Art

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sally Beauty. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love all of the beautiful red violet that is showing up this season. You can see it in clothing, makeup, and even in hair color this time of year. I love embracing these seasonal colors, but instead of investing so much into purchasing a whole new red violet wardrobe or dying my hair right now,  I decided to go with a fun Fall manicure! I find doing my nails to be pretty therapeutic and love how just having my nails done can make my confidence boost a little.
