My Workout Favorites on www.girllovesglam.com

If you follow me on basically any form of social media, you have been able to see the health journey that I have taken on this year. This spring, I started running. I learned a lot! During all of this, I have developed some favorite products to use for working out that I have had a lot of questions about. Instead of answering a million questions, I decided to put all of my workout favorites in one place so there can be one resource of my workout favorites. [Read more…]

Hiring Assistants. Virtual Assistant FAQ’s Video

Hiring assistants can literally save your sanity! I have four virtual assistants. Yes, I said FOUR! My blog keeps me busy enough for them and it isn’t even a huge blog. Even if you aren’t a blogger, hiring help is a good idea for anybody! I did a Periscope video all about my virtual assistants, what they do for me, how much I pay them, how I manage everything with my assistants! I shared ALL of it! It was a really popular scope, so I decided to bring it back onto YouTube so it can be watched anytime.

The main point I bring across in the video is how important it is to do what you do best and hire out what you don’t. I say it “Do your best, hire the rest”. I think this is something you kind of have to remind yourself of too. That’s why I had my gorgeous assistant make this awesome printable that you can put somewhere that you see often. It will be a great reminder to you that sometimes it is best to take a step back and get some help!

Beauty Basics: Shampoo and Conditioner Tips

A while ago, I asked my social media followers what type of content they would like to see in videos. I asked what beauty questions they have that they would like answered and honestly, I was surprised by some of the responses! When I really started thinking about it though, I shouldn’t have been surprised at all. They were the same questions I am asked when I work at the salon and am doing a client’s hair! One of these questions was about shampoo and conditioner. “What type of shampoo and conditioner should I use? Does it matter what type of shampoo and conditioner I use in my hair? Should I be using salon brands, or can I use cheaper shampoo and conditioner? How often should I wash my hair?” There were several questions like this that were asked, so I decided to address the topic with my latest video! Here are my shampoo and conditioner tips in…

Makeup Basics: Eyebrows VIDEO

After a one week hiatus because I had ZERO voice, I am back with YouTube Monday! My voice kind of reminds me of Phoebe’s on Friends when she has her sick, sultry voice. I have a little sultry vibe in there still, but It wasn’t going to keep me from skipping out on this video!

I have had a ton of questions about how to apply eyebrow makeup and after taking a little survey on my social media, I realized that A LOT of you wanted a video about it. Your wish is my command!

Makeup Basics: Eyebrows on www.girllovesglam.com

I am not really an expert in the eyebrow department. Eyebrows haven’t really been a huge deal until the last couple of years, so I have had to learn by trial and error. I will share my tips and teach you how I apply my eyebrow makeup! [Read more…]

How to Style Straight Across Bangs: YouTube Monday

It is Monday again! That means it is time for another video!

I get asked ALL of the time how to style straight across bangs. I get asked at the salon when I am cutting bangs, my friends with bangs ask me, and people thinking about cutting bangs ask me. For a long time, I thought it would be a silly video to do because it is so simple. After asking a few people their thoughts on the matter, I realized that it may be best to just go ahead and film it!

Minnie Mouse Ears Toddler Hairstyle

I have a major Minnie Mouse fan at my house. One day as I was trying to think of something to do with her hair, she wasn’t really cooperating. I was kind of desperate to come up with an idea for her hair that she would sit still for. When I couldn’t think of anything, I asked her what kind of hair she wanted that day. I was not at all prepared for what she was about to throw at me… Minnie Mouse hair! Say what?! Minnie Mouse doesn’t even have hair! That is when I came up with the idea to do Minnie Mouse EARS as the toddler hairstyle instead of her hair that doesn’t actually exist.

There are a few really great things about this hairstyle. One of the great things is that it is really easy to do, but what is probably the greatest thing is what happens if you do it when the hair is wet! If you do this hairstyle when the hair is wet, it turns out really smooth (Unlike the photos I have of the hairstyle. We were kind of a hot mess all together that day.), the hairstyle will usually stay looking good for at least another day after you have done it, AND when the buns start looking a little bent out of shape you can take them out and they leave the most adorable ringlets behind that make for a super cute ponytail on the last day. If your girls are anything like mine, they HATE getting their hair washed. This hairstyle is a saving grace that it lets me get away with not washing her hair for about 2 days, so we can enjoy bath time without the dreaded hair washing fight. [Read more…]

How to apply false eyelashes

I have always had a love/hate relationship with false eyelashes. I loved the way they looked on other people, but I just couldn’t ever achieve a believable false eyelash look on myself. Part of it could be that I wasn’t exactly sure how to put on lashes, but I also blame the fact that I have pretty unique shaped eyes. It wasn’t until I was in beauty school and we started learning about makeup and eye shapes that I realized that my eyes had something different about them that nobody else in my class had. I had what I like to call “eye flaps”. Not exactly the most flattering name, but it was the best I could come up with. In the inside corner of my eyes, I have extra skin that covers my tear ducts. You will see this on a few different people of different ethnicity than I am, but for a white girl it is pretty weird. Over the years, I have actually really learned to love my “eye flaps”, but that wasn’t the case when it came to false eyelashes. None of the synthetic ones I tried looked good. They all seemed to go against that extra skin, making my face look very wide and awkward. I gave up on false lashes and tried to perfect my mascara application instead.

Then, I was approached by a brand called Esqido false eyelashes. They make really nice mink false eyelashes. They wanted me to give their lashes a try, so I told them to send some my way so I could try them out. You guys, I wouldn’t ever give you a product recommendation that I don’t actually believe in. Esqido didn’t pay me to do this post. I want you to know that I LOVE their lashes! They actually fit my eyes, they stay on, and they last for what seems like is forever because of the quality of their lashes. I feel like because they are made of natural material, they are a little more pliable and can fit on any eye shape! Because I finally have perfected putting on false eyelashes, I have been asked about them a lot and decided to do a little video to show you how to apply false eyelashes!
