Highlights from Blogger Bash!

I have been home from my marathon July vacation for about a week and a half now, but I still feel like I am playing catch up! It is totally worth every last load of laundry and every random pile of stuff laying around the house. It was so much fun! As you may recall I went to Blogger Bash last year with my friends, Holly and Jill. We had a blast at that conference and taking on NYC together.

When I saw that Blogger Bash was looking for ambassadors this year, I knew I wanted to apply. By some sort of miracle, I was asked to join the ambassador team and was beyond thrilled! It really meant a lot to me because I hadn’t originally thought I could attend. I had thought that I would have a month old baby in July, so the fact that they asked about ambassadors shortly after my miscarriage was a huge blessing to me. I now had something that I could look forward to this summer instead of dwelling on the sadness that came with our family’s loss.

It was really fun to be involved in Twitter parties and hype before the actual conference. I got to meet the other ambassadors virtually and didn’t even feel nervous about attending a conference that I would be alone at. I got to Blogger Bash and was immediately taken in by the other ambassadors as one of their own. I am forever grateful for the friendships that I was able to make in those 2 1/2 days.

Summertime is just around the corner and that means travel season is coming for me too. The summer is always full of travel plans for me and it feels like it makes the summer go by way too quickly. I love to travel, so I don’t mind how short the summer feels when that means that I get to visit family and enjoy trying new things.  [Read more…]

Disneyland Packing Tips

I was given the EzPacking products to try out, but was not compensated in any other way for this post.

We took the big plunge in November and went on our first big vacation as a family. We have gone on little trips, but nothing too big that has just been the three of us. We decided to take our first trip to Disneyland together. The last time I went to Disneyland, I was in 4th grade. It has changed just a little bit since I was there last. You know, like that ENTIRE new park there?! That’s right! California Adventure wasn’t even there the last time I went to Disneyland. Dave and Harper had never been to Disneyland either, so we went big and not only went during their 60th Anniversary celebration, but we went during the holidays too! You can start calling us crazy right about… NOW! Honestly I thought it was going to be kind of a nightmare, but it ended up being a really special trip for our family. I am far from a Disneyland expert now, but I did learn some really valuable things about Disneyland travel. One area that I would consider myself kind of an expert in would have to be organization. This especially came in handy with packing for Disneyland. Here are a few tips that I highly recommend if you are going to be visiting the happiest place on earth any time soon!

NYC Travel and Packing Tips and GIVEAWAY!

If you follow me on my social media channels, you know that I just got back from an incredible trip to NYC. I have been to New York City three times now and each time has been such a different experience! That is the great thing about New York. Things are constantly changing there, so you can have an entirely different experience each time you go. Because I went with my blogger bestie, Holly, things were much more centered around blogging events and fun things that our families wouldn’t necessarily enjoy as much as two moms who were able to escape for a few days.

We wanted to get the very most out of the time we had, so we took a red eye flight there. It was my first red eye flight, but I learned a lot! I was really glad I had brought a sweatshirt with me, because the plane was quite cold. A few things I couldn’t have survived my red eye flight without were my sweatshirt, my travel pillow, a smaller pillow (this one happens to be my Jimmy Fallon face), headphones, tunes to listen to on your phone, comfortable clothes, and a good book. I read my book until I started feeling really tired, put my pillow around my neck, plugged in my headphones, and was able to catch some zzz’s. If you are sensitive to light, I recommend bringing an eye mask. There were a few people who had their reading lights on during the flight and I ended up having to pull my sweatshirt over my eyes to cover the light.

The first time I went to NYC, I wasn’t sure what type of purse to bring. I was really worried about someone stealing my purse and taking off with everything in it, so I found myself hugging my purse a lot. The second time around, I only brought a flat wallet with the essentials in it, so I wouldn’t have to worry about a purse. The set back of this was that I was missing a lot of things that I would have liked to have had with me on the go. This time around, I brought my new favorite travel purse, my Baggallini bagg!

How we are paying for our Disneyland vacation!

This post contains affiliate links.

Guys! I am SO excited! We officially are going to Disneyland this Fall! I know that a lot of people go on Disney vacations, but this is a really big deal for my little family. It will be the first time that Dave and Harper will have been. I haven’t been to Disneyland since they had California Adventure, so it has been a while for me too. At the age that my daughter is at right now, she is obsessed with all things Disney and I just couldn’t wait any longer to go. We have been wanting to go for a while, but just couldn’t find the way to save up to go. Even since we moved and Dave has a higher paying job, saving up to go seemed like quite the task. Any time we have extra money saved up, it is just SO dang tempting to spend that money! We are no good at saving up for things. But, we have finally found a way to save up for Disneyland that will actually work for us! Here is how we are paying for our Disneyland vacation!

My Trip to NYC with Kleenex

Girl Loves Glam in NYC

First of all, I feel like I need to prepare you mentally for the photo overload you are about to experience. Pictures speak much louder than words for me so that is how I am going to speak to you through this post… Well, until you get to the video part that I actually do speak to you…

Times Square New York City

A week ago, I was in the Big Apple. It seems so strange to think that I was only there just a week ago. In some ways I feel like I was just there yesterday, and in other ways this trip feels like a lifetime ago. I was able to go to NYC because Kleenex sent me there to attend a big reveal event they had at Grand Central Station to celebrate their 90th anniversary! To celebrate, they had Isaac Mizrahi design four new designs for their boxes that they revealed at the event I attended. Here are some highlights from the trip.

For the first night, Kleenex put me up in a cute hotel called 70 Park Avenue. I loved how the room was decorated!

When I first got to the Kleenex event, they had boxes of their current designs out for people to admire, photo props to take photo booth pictures, and kiosks that people could go to to enter to win a $500 shopping spree.

I had to take the opportunity to play in the photo booth!

What I Wore to the Kleenex event

Then the big moment came. Isaac Mizrahi! He came and announced his 4 new designs in front of a crowd of people and snagged some photos with Kleenex executives.

His designs were revealed on a giant Kleenex box made of 4 huge LCD screens. It was a huge way to celebrate such incredible designs!

There couldn’t have been a better setting than Grand Central Station to kick off such a big year for Kleenex. Their company has grown so much over the years. They have so much history to celebrate and the gorgeous, historical Grand Central Station was the perfect place to do it. If you are ever there, don’t forget to look up! Isn’t this place gorgeous?

After Isaac made his big reveal, the old designs that were on the tables were quickly switched out with his new designs. Aren’t they perfection? I am OBSESSED with the pink floral print. I need it in a dress.

After the big reveal, it was hard to say goodbye to the new friends I had made at the event. The people who put this event together are such kind, hardworking people! They all instantly felt like family to me. I said goodbye and made my way to Carnegie Deli for lunch.

I feel like I need to do some explaining about this sandwich. My dad came on this trip with me. When I found out that I was going to go to NYC, I was only going to be going for about 24 hours. I knew that wasn’t going to be enough time for me, but I didn’t want to spend more time than that in NYC by myself. I asked a few friends and nobody was going to be able to come with me. That is when my dad hopped in the conversation and told me that he had enough frequent flyer miles to come with me! I am so glad that he came with me! He did his own thing while I was at the Kleenex event, but it was so fun to have him there to explore the city with. Anyways, back to the sandwich. The second night we stayed in NYC, we stayed at the Marriott Fairfield. There is the BEST bell boy of all time who works there. My dad wanted a recommendation of a great NYC style deli sandwich and the bell boy immediately sent us to Carnegie Deli and told us to share a sandwich. Thank goodness for his recommendation because THIS is half of a sandwich! It was St. Patrick’s Day and we felt like we needed to celebrate with a Reuben sandwich. The corned beef and sauerkraut hit the spot!

To top the day off, I went to Mood Designer Fabrics. This has been something that I have wanted to do for years! I have been a Project Runway fan from the beginning and it was so fun to see where the fabric magic happens. This place is HUGE! There are three floors that are completely STUFFED with fabric. I could have stayed there all day. My dad found a nice spot to sit while I did some fabric shopping and when I found him again he had found Swatch the dog! I was so excited to see the famous puppy in person. He is a sweet little pup.

I am so grateful to Kleenex for this opportunity. I seriously can’t find the right words to thank them enough. This was something that I never would have thought would happen to a girl like me. I am grateful for all of you incredible readers for supporting me so this could happen too! I know that none of this would have been possible without you guys! I seriously love you guys. Like for reals.

Holiday Travel Survival Kit including toys, gum and treats!

Traveling with your family during the holidays can be a challenge. If you have ever traveled with kids of any age, you know it is hard no matter how old they are! If you have family coming to visit you this holiday season, or if you have a neighbor that you know will be traveling, a holiday travel survival kit may just be the perfect gift for them! I made a holiday travel survival kit that would gear to a family similar to my own. I included treats for the whole family, a coloring book and crayons to keep the toddler busy, a magazine for mom or teenage daughters, a drink for the toddler, and Extra mint gum to keep everyone’s mouths busy during the car ride.

Putting this basket together was easy when I just stopped to think about what my family would like. I knew we would love munchies and activities to keep our minds off of the busy road, but most important is the gum!

While it is fun to have sugary snacks during a road trip, it is important to eat them in moderation. I always like to chew gum to help pass the sugar cravings by. I have always loved Wrigley’s Extra Peppermint gum flavor! I remember my grandma always having that flavor at her house when I was little and I would go steal pieces throughout the day when I would visit her. It was my secret treat that probably wasn’t much of a secret when I would have several sticks of gum in my tiny mouth. When I was in middle school, I was introduced to Wrigley’s Extra Spearmint and Polar Ice. I became a total gum addict. I think it is a middle school trend to have a constant piece of gum in your mouth. I went through my fair share of packages and to my mom’s dismay, a few went through the washing machine too! Wrigley’s Extra gum has been a go to treat for me my entire life. I think it is a great way to get past those tough cravings because it eases them and it is sugar free!

What is your favorite flavor of Wrigley’s Extra gum? Do you find yourself chewing it more during the winter? I love the feel of the cool mint when it is cool outside!

What kinds of things would you put in a holiday travel survival kit for your own family? Remember to keep this idea in mind for the family or friends who are coming to visit you this holiday season! Don’t forget to pack them some Wrigley’s Extra gum while your at it too!
