Dressed Up Spring

This post was sponsored by Payless Shoe Source. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Photography by: Stayc Smart Photography

As much as I love a practical outfit, I love a good dressy outfit such as much. Before I became a mom, I would dress up for no occasion at all. I love dressing up! Although I am not dressing up for no reason anymore, I still like to have plenty of dressy options available. I think the fact that I don’t get dressed up as often makes the times when I am able to get dressed up even more special!

One thing that I love about dressing up is the opportunity to bring new textures to an outfit. Wearing lace isn’t something that I do day to day. I always seem to get it caught on things when I wear it often. When I wear lace, I like to have it on something that I wear for special occasions, like this skirt. I’m pretty much head over heels for this skirt and can’t wait to pair it with many tops this season. [Read more…]

What I Wore: Muah! Summer Style

A few weeks ago, I went to Snap Conference. When you are planning on spending days upon days full of incredibly talented blogger women, you think and then rethink and then rethink and maybe even rethink some more about what you are going to wear. After laying out all of my favorite clothes on my bed, I came up with this outfit. I knew it was an instant hit.

Really, it is a combination of everything that I love. Makeup, t-shirts, prints, stretchy skirts, and cute wedge shoes. I mean, does it get any better than that?

Wait! It does get better. There are kisses on the back! Okay, now it officially doesn’t get any better.

This summer, if you are ever in doubt about what to wear all you need to do is pick out your favorite t-shirt. Instead of pairing it with the same pair of jeans that you usually wear with it, try pairing it with a jersey knit skirt. There are so many skirt options out there including varying lengths and patterns so the possibilities are pretty endless. Try the shirt with different skirts. Give yourself a little variety. You will thank me later.

What I Wore: When a grown woman wears a tutu

Purple net skirt and t-shirt on www.girllovesglam

Have you ever been online shopping and you see something on the site and think, “Yeah, I could pull that off! Choosing this item is a great idea” and then it comes in the mail and you have a small freak out moment thinking, “What on earth will I wear this with? I am too old for this!”… No? Well it happened to me. With this skirt. When it came in the mail, it instantly looked like a tutu to me. Maybe that is because my daughter has a tutu type skirt that is the exact same color and fabric as my skirt. It hung in my closet for about 2 weeks. I didn’t know what on earth I would wear with it.

Then these mint green Converse shoes came in the mail and it dawned on me… Wearing a purple net skirt doesn’t mean it is a tutu. It can be a fun, twist on the everyday outfit that I normally wear with a t-shirt. I knew this outfit was going to be pure perfection once I found the right tee.

Bam! Now I knew I could pull off the tutu. I wasn’t trying to be a fairy princess. I was literally killin’ it.

Then when I went to shoot what had quickly become my newest favorite outfit, the wind came. It came in a big way. Like a “it feels like a freaking tornado” kind of way. It was then that I realized that life is too short to take it too seriously. Life is meant to be fun. Life is meant to be a little weird. Life is meant to goofy. That is exactly what came through with this outfit and photo shoot in general and now I am grateful for that 50 mile an hour wind and the weird faces it made me make.

Today I am teaming up with eleven other bloggers to introduce you to a brand new site that is launching today. The Little Black Fashion Truck started as a pop-up traveling boutique. The owner Erin said, “Everything around changes all the time and I loved the idea of having something mobile and versatile to serve more people and still offer quality service to every customer. The mobile boutique offers the opportunity to have a more intimate feel to the service provided and provide a new way to shop for people who hate the crowds, snobby salespeople, and dealing with commissioned sales staff.”

After a year of traveling around in Idaho she is taking her store online to accommodate her fans from other states.

Um, before you look at these photos… Let’s pretend that my amazing photographer took these. Wait, that would be a total insult to her. I had to do the good ol’ self timer for these. They aren’t nearly as pretty as the ones that Ann takes. Probably because we don’t have to take them in my yard… that DESPERATELY needs mowed. It gives it the jungle/in the wild vibes, right?

Little Black Fashion Truck Maxi Skirt

I chose to try this gorgeous tribal print maxi skirt out. It is literally the most comfortable thing in my closet.

Bright Maxi Skirt Outfit

I love that there are so many colors in the skirt that I can pull from for future outfits too. There are so many options!

Casual top with fancy skirt on www.girllovesglam.com

Let me start by telling you how obsessed I am with this look. I adore how a casual t-shirt can pair with a big, fluffy, fancy skirt. This shirt and skirt pair perfectly. Once the accessories are added, everything comes together like a match made in heaven. I also love it when my photographer has the crazy idea of doing a photo shoot in the middle of a skate park. I mean, who does that? I stood in the middle of the skate park as teenagers did kick flips and 50/50 grinds around me. I got some strange looks, but it was totally worth it in the end. I love how these photos turned out with all of the concrete around. Ann knows what she is doing and I am so grateful for her for her vision!

Gold Foiled Heart Tee from Style Lately on www.girllovesglam.com

Let’s talk about the shirt first. I love how shiny the gold heart is on this shirt. It is perfect because it is easy to dress up or dress down. It would be cute with a pair of jeans, with leggings and a long cardigan, and with a fancy skirt! This shirt is from Style Lately. You can find it, HERE.

Redstar Sunglasses

These sunglasses are by far the nicest, highest quality sunglasses I have ever owned. They are from RedStar. I love how chic they look and feel. You can find them HERE. Here is the extra cool part… RedStar is offering a free $500 gift card to my readers for sunglasses too! You just have to pay shipping and handling for them. Use the code “MTA14” to receive the $500 Redstar giftcard. These are really nice quality sunglasses. Jump on that deal! You can choose any of THESE sunglasses to use your $500 gift card for.

Polka dot Betsey Johnson Purse

The purse was a purchase from my trip to NYC. I got this lovely at Century 21. I knew I loved it from the moment I set eyes on it from across the room. As soon as I saw who made it, I knew that it was destiny. This is a Betsey Johnson purse. I have Betsey Johnson luggage that I already love so I knew I needed this purse too. It has already become the best purse I have ever owned in my entire life. It is perfect in every way. The bracelet is from Apple of My Eye (it is sold out, but they have other gorgeous bracelets too).

t-shirt with fancy skirt. The perfect look for spring.

The skirt came from Romwe. I have coveted over that skirt for a long time. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get it before it was gone. It totally reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. I feel like I could party right along with the Mad Hatter. It brings a lot of whimsical qualities to every outfit I style it in. I love it! The shoes are from Aldo (6 years ago). There are some similar ones HERE. I wore these shoes on my wedding day. I still love them to this day.

WIW: Aztec and Ninja Turtles

Sometimes you just have to try crazy things. And sometimes, you find an amazing skirt for a super awesome price with your BFF and you both know you HAVE to own it.

That is exactly what happened with this skirt. I knew I had to own it. I am totally into the Aztec print trend and I love that it has color! So many Aztec prints are just black and white. It was refreshing to find one in color that I would actually wear.

Aztec and Ninja Turtles

Shirts: Kohl’s | Earrings: Kohl’s | Ring: Target | Skirt: TJ Maxx | Shoes: Target

You probably recognize these shirts from a previous what I wore post. I am obsessed. I love how this chambray shirt fits and my Ninja Turtle burnout baseball tee is officially my favorite shirt. It matches this skirt perfectly. The colors totally mesh, but it isn’t matchy matchy. It is almost like mixing patterns. I love playing with patterns and different styles to create my own look. Pairing a baseball tee with a skirt is a perfect example of that.

Where did I wear this? We had date night! We went out to dinner and to a farmer’s market. It was a perfect look to feel a little dressed up, without being overdressed for the evening.
