Thankful Thanksgiving Sign

Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that seems to get skipped a lot. The sad thing is it is one holiday that truly stands for something that we should all be paying attention to. It isn’t just a Thursday where we stuff our faces and make shopping plans for the next day. It is a time where we can really reflect on what we have been blessed with and surround ourselves with the people we love. I wanted to focus on being grateful for the entire month of November, so I made this sign that we can look at throughout the month and even add our own leaves to with things we are grateful for if we wanted to.

I love that this sign features geometric leaves. I am a sucker for geometric ANYTHING!

Pretty Big Bad Wolf Girl Costume

When my five year old saw the Pottery Barn Halloween catalog, she instantly fell in love with a deer costume. She mistakenly thought it was a wolf at first and that instantly inspired this year’s family Halloween costume theme of Red Riding Hood characters. But instead of being the Big Bad Wolf, we like to think of our wolf as the Pretty Nice Wolf.

This costume was incredibly easy to make. In fact, I was able to get it completely finished in less time than it takes for my 5 year old to go to kindergarten. It is a very close version of the Pottery Barn costume that she fell in love with, but I actually love the extra details we added to our costume a little more! The greatest part about it all is the fact that it is 100% no sew!

Red Riding Hood Family Halloween Costume

It is FINALLY time for my favorite series of posts of the entire year! Our family Halloween costume! I had no idea that this would become such a tradition for me, but I look forward to creating themed costumes for my family each and every year. They still get excited about it too, but I dread the day that I have teenagers who won’t dress up in a theme with me anymore. This year, we decided to be Little Red Riding Hood characters!

The best part about all of these costumes is that they are all NO SEW! I have said it once, I will say it a million times… sewing makes me swear. I know I have been given some talents but sewing just is not one of them! So rest assured that any costumes you see on my site aren’t going to require a sewing machine.  [Read more…]

Yarn and Eyeball Halloween Pumpkins

I love creating my own Halloween decor! I am not a fan of scary Halloween decor and I’m not really a fan of overly cutsey Halloween decor either. It puts me in kind of a weird spot that is hard to find stuff that I really love. Luckily, I love Halloween crafting! I whipped up these yarn and eyeball pumpkins last week and I LOVE them something fierce. They took me no time at all and I just am a little obsessed with how they turned out!

Curls Gone Wild Shirt Design Download

Having daughters that are 5 years apart makes it a little tricky when I want them to wear matching outfits. I have been lucky to find some really cute matching outfits, but sometimes my options are little to non existent. Thankfully, it is really easy to make matching shirts with iron on vinyl! That is exactly what I did when I made these adorable “Curls Gone Wild” shirts for my two curly haired little munchkins.

Handwritten Water Bottle Teacher Gift Idea

My husband used to be an elementary school teacher. It was always interesting to see what kinds of gifts his students would bring him. A lot of times, he would end up with loads of candy. Candy is nice, but there is only so much candy one person can take before it gets a little old! When it was time to come up with a gift to give my daughter’s preschool and dance teachers, I knew I wanted to give them something practical and personal. That’s when we came up with this darling handwritten water bottle teacher gift idea!

Handwritten Water Bottle Teacher Gift Idea

These water bottles turned out just so sweet with this little 5 year old handwriting and artwork. I know that they will be treasures for her teachers and will be sweet reminders of my daughter each time they use them. I think the best part was just how simple they were to make! Shrinky Dinks Ornaments Kid’s Gift Idea

Getting gifts for your kids to give to their friends for Christmas can get SO expensive! My daughter really wanted to give her friends something for Christmas, but when you are four years old the concept of money isn’t quite there. We finally agreed on giving her friends some handmade ornaments. I was trying to come up with a cute ornament that could be personal, but easy and cost effective as well and I remembered Shrinky Dinks! I used to make different creations with Shrinky Dinks as a kid and I knew they would be perfect to make ornaments with too! The best part is that each ornament ended up costing about 50 cents each to make!

To make these, I used the print and cut option on my Silhouette Cameo machine. This made making these incredibly easy because I printed them out and just had the Silhouette cut them out for me and they looked great! Of course, if you don’t have a Silhouette Cameo, you could print off your own design on the Shrinky Dinks and cut them out yourself, just know it will take you much longer and they won’t look as crisp. But it can be done! [Read more…]

Christmas Angel Kids Craft

One thing I love to do as a mom is involve my Harper in holiday decorating. She loves to be included in the process and it is even better when we decorate with something that she has created herself! This year, we made this adorable handprint and footprint angel that can be displayed for years to come.

I have to give a lot of the credit for this idea to my mom. She has a similar piece of art that my brother made when he was about four years old. My mom made up the idea with finger paint, but I wanted this project to be quick and mess free so we made a few adjustments. I love the idea of creating a craft together that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. I love thinking about the angels who came to sing and rejoice. We talked a lot about the angels while we made this craft together and it became a great teaching moment while we created this little Christmas angel keepsake together! [Read more…]
