Traveling with your family during the holidays can be a challenge. If you have ever traveled with kids of any age, you know it is hard no matter how old they are! If you have family coming to visit you this holiday season, or if you have a neighbor that you know will be traveling, a holiday travel survival kit may just be the perfect gift for them! I made a holiday travel survival kit that would gear to a family similar to my own. I included treats for the whole family, a coloring book and crayons to keep the toddler busy, a magazine for mom or teenage daughters, a drink for the toddler, and Extra mint gum to keep everyone’s mouths busy during the car ride.

Putting this basket together was easy when I just stopped to think about what my family would like. I knew we would love munchies and activities to keep our minds off of the busy road, but most important is the gum!

While it is fun to have sugary snacks during a road trip, it is important to eat them in moderation. I always like to chew gum to help pass the sugar cravings by. I have always loved Wrigley’s Extra Peppermint gum flavor! I remember my grandma always having that flavor at her house when I was little and I would go steal pieces throughout the day when I would visit her. It was my secret treat that probably wasn’t much of a secret when I would have several sticks of gum in my tiny mouth. When I was in middle school, I was introduced to Wrigley’s Extra Spearmint and Polar Ice. I became a total gum addict. I think it is a middle school trend to have a constant piece of gum in your mouth. I went through my fair share of packages and to my mom’s dismay, a few went through the washing machine too! Wrigley’s Extra gum has been a go to treat for me my entire life. I think it is a great way to get past those tough cravings because it eases them and it is sugar free!

What is your favorite flavor of Wrigley’s Extra gum? Do you find yourself chewing it more during the winter? I love the feel of the cool mint when it is cool outside!

Instagram Photo Christmas Advent Calendar

Instagram Photo Christmas Advent Calendar

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This year is extra special because it is my daughter’s second Christmas. It is the first year that she is noticing all of the beauty around her that Christmas brings. She loves the lights, the glitter, and the music. She is also starting to learn how to count and loves looking at numbers. I thought that by bringing an interactive advent calendar for our family this season would be the perfect way to help her count and celebrate the fun that we have had all year! Because the advent calendar has 12 days, I tried choosing one photo for each month of the year. It is fun to see what fun memories we have from this year. I chose to have the numbers count up instead of counting down because I am trying to teach my daughter how to count. It was so easy to make! Here is what you need to make your own…

*Paper to go in the picture frame

*Paper for the backs of the photos

*Marker. I used a silver Sharpie paint pen.

Gift Ideas for Baby’s Second Christmas

Christmas shopping for my daughter has been a lot of fun this year, but it can be hard to find her gifts that are a little more worth while, and not all just fun little knickknacks that she would like for a little bit and then forget about. When I was asked to collaborate with BabyThingz.com, I knew it would be the perfect place to find great Christmas gifts for baby’s first AND second Christmas! Since my daughter will be celebrating her second Christmas this year, I decided to compile a collection of items that I know she would love and I know would be a little more worth while!

Gift Ideas for Baby's Second Christmas

I was so impressed with BabyThingz.com and their high quality selection. They are shipping from the UK, but their prices are pretty reasonable, so paying the shipping on top of that isn’t too bad.

Baby's Second Christmas
Aren’t they all great? I can’t get over how cute that little bug to ride on is! It is darling! Those wooden toys are super cute too! When I was browsing, I couldn’t help but fall in love with these items too. They wouldn’t necessarily be appropriate for baby’s second Christmas, but I just HAD to share!

Must Have Holiday Sweaters

I am obsessed with sweaters when it starts getting cold outside. I am also obsessed with finding new shops that I love! I recently found a shop called She Inside that I am LOVING! I almost didn’t want to share this with you because I want it to be my little secret! While I was browsing through some of their sweaters over the weekend, I thought I should probably share my favorites with you so you can get them to wear to all of your upcoming holiday parties! This isn’t a sponsored post. I just want to share some of my favorite sweaters and sweater trends with you fashionistas!

Must Have Holiday Sweaters

Aren’t they all fabulous?! I love the geometric and Aztec patterns that are so popular right now, but I love the other colors besides just black and white that are now becoming available! I absolutely adore faux leather accents on holiday sweaters too! Can we all just agree that these are all amazing?!

What sweater trends are you totally crushing over right now?

Once again, this is NOT a sponsored post. I just want to show you the trends I’m crushing over.

Christmas Candy Drum Neighbor Gift + Free Printable

I am excited to be participating in the My Sister’s Suitcase 12 Days of Christmas! There have been some really incredible projects that have represented each of the 12 days.
I am the closer for the game so I got to create a project inspired by 12 Drummer’s Drumming! Although I can’t sing or play any instrument for the life of me, I can really appreciate music, especially Christmas music. I decided to create a neighbor gift inspired by the 12 Drummer’s Drumming.

Neighbor gifts are so dang hard sometimes, but giving them a little Christmas drum filled with candy would be the perfect way to help your neighbors power through the holiday season. Here’s what you need to make your own…
*Paint can container (I found mine in the dollar section at Target)
*Candy
*Glue Gun
*Tape
*Ribbon
*Paper
*Scissors
First, take the handles off of your containers. They are now drums, not paint cans!
Cut your paper to the same height as your can. Stick the paper inside of your can to line it. Tape the ends of the paper together on the inside.
Put a little dot of hot glue on the can and put your ribbon on it. Do this on the top and the bottom of the can to create a zigzag design on the can.
Go around 2 times so that your zigzags overlap and create an X pattern on your drum.
Fill your drums up with candy!
Print off the printable tag for your drums.
Glue the tag onto your drum, front and center.
Now you have a cute, inexpensive gift to share with your friends, neighbors, or coworkers that takes little time and effort. That is my kind of gifting!
Go check out the other awesome projects that were inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas!

Christmas Pop Art

You know how sometimes you are doing your everyday routine and then all of a sudden, BAM an idea comes and smacks you like a ton of bricks? This happened to me in October. I remember because I was at a store surrounded by Halloween decor. Right then, I thought of Christmas decor. Weird, I know, but that is just how my brain works! Months later, my brainchild came alive.

I love having decor that is unique to my family and that adds a little humor to our home. I wanted to create pop art style pictures from our three favorite Christmas movies. What better way to do that than by adding some of our favorite quotes from the movies too?! I emailed my friends at Poppyseed Projects and they hooked me up with the stuff I needed to make this project come to life.
Here’s what you need to make your own…
Paint
Paintbrush
Vinyl (I only ended up using the red)
Poppyseed Projects photo texturizing cream
Vinyl cutter (I used my Silhouette Cameo)
Command Picture Hanging Strips
First, paint all of the plaques the color you want them to be. This took about 2 coats of paint.
Next, using your vinyl cutter, cut out the silhouettes of the characters that you want and the quotes that you want to add to them too. Put them onto your plaques. Paint the texturizing cream on over the top of the plaque to seal all of the vinyl onto the plaque and add a little texture to it.
Add the Command Strips to the backs of each of your plaques. I put two on the back of each of them. Hang them up where you want them to be! I love Command Strips because they let you hang things up without it being super permanent. You are done! It is a really simple project that makes a huge impact.
Every time I walk by them, I can’t help but giggle. I love them! A short story about the quote we chose for the leg lamp… When Dave was a little kid, he watched A Christmas Story for the first time at his grandma’s house. When they get the leg lamp and the neighbor asks what it is and he turns and says “It’s a lamp you nincompoop!”, Dave fell off of his chair laughing because it was the first time he had heard that word. He wanted to have this quote on here badly and I let him! Now, we have the word “poop” in our Christmas decor. I love the quirk it brings to our decor.
What quotes and movies would you use?
