Simplifying Your Life as a New Mom

There is nothing quite like the overwhelming feeling after having a baby. There is just so many things to buy, things to do, all while trying to do those things on very little sleep! I remember feeling very overwhelmed after Zoey was born. I just didn’t know how I was going to juggle the task of keeping my 5 year old happy, taking care of a newborn, and keeping my business running. It was all so much!

I quickly learned the importance of simplifying my life. If I could cut down on the amount of errands I needed to run or come up with better systems for getting household work and work for my job done, things could run a lot more smoothly.  [Read more…]

Educational Apps and Websites We Love

We are huge advocates of educational apps and games. We have used them for years! Sometimes screen time can be a delicate balance, but if there is plenty of educational screen time happening, I don’t mind more screen time. We have tried lots of different learning apps and websites, but I wanted to feature our top 3 favorites.

The #BeGlamChallenge Is Finally Here!

I just sent out my first #BeGlamChallenge newsletter this morning! Since this is a brand new thing, I wanted to give you the rundown here as well in case you missed it. This will only be happening this month, so if you want to continue to be part of the #BeGlamChallenge, make sure you subscribe to the newsletter! They will come at the beginning of each month and will have all of the details for the challenge each month. They are prompts to help you better yourself and really push yourself to grow. I am SO excited about it! You can subscribe here or by filling out the form on the top of the screen.

I can’t describe how thrilled I am to be back! The newsletters are going to (FINALLY!) be something that I have been dreaming of doing for years. I have always wanted this to be a special space that is unique to the blog or my other social media outlets. I have wanted to really create a sense of community within my newsletter and it is finally the right time to do that. Over the past year, I have really tried to work on who I am as and individual.

Feed the Hungry Car Kits to #LightTheWorld

I have absolutely loved participating in the mormon.org #LightTheWorld challenges this year. It really helps bring a special spirit to the holiday season, when you focus on serving others. I have done small things for each day, but for Day 21 “Feed the Hungry”, I wanted to do something a little bigger… Feed the Hungry Car Kits!

The thought behind these kits is that I hate driving past people who are asking for help on the streets, but I don’t usually carry cash with me and sometimes don’t feel comfortable giving cash. I loved the idea of carrying a few bags with food in them that I could keep in the glove compartment of my car, so that I could hand them out easily.  [Read more…]

Grateful: A Tribute

(affiliate links included)

I have been thinking about gratitude a lot lately. When November rolls around, it seems to be the topic on a lot of people’s minds. But what does it mean to be grateful? Does it simply mean that we are glad we have someone or something in our lives? Is it simply just saying that you are grateful for something?

I think gratitude goes far beyond simply just saying that you are grateful for something. I think it involves humility and action. [Read more…]

When Life Gives You Lemons

Wednesday was going to be a busy day at our house. It was a busy day, just not exactly how we had planned. I had been working for a few days leading up until Wednesday to finish our Halloween costumes. We were going to have a family photo shoot so that I could share our costumes with you all next week. I also was going to take some photos in a darling long cardigan that I have been wearing non stop. We of course had school, errands, and other work related items on our agenda. The next thing I knew, all of those plans changed. When I went to pick up Harper from school, she wanted to show me her new trick. Her new trick was doing the monkey bars. I think she was a little overly excited because she started a little too quickly and almost as quickly as she was up on the monkey bars, she was down. She fell straight on her back, with her arm behind her back. She started screaming instantly and I was sure she had just broken her arm.

I scooped her up and ran her into our van and drove home, right down the street to ask Dave for his opinion and it wasn’t 30 seconds later that we were heading to the doctor’s office. We went to our family doctor who took x-rays and confirmed my suspicions… broken wrist and elbow! We were sent straight to the orthopedic surgeon where there were more x-rays and a lot more tears. Finally, there was a little relief when Harper finally got a splint put on.

As we were driving home, I looked in my rear view mirror and looked at my little girl who was sleeping in her booster seat. She looked exhausted. Suddenly all of those missed errands, unanswered emails, and unfinished business didn’t matter anymore. None of our plans had worked the way we had “planned”, but that was okay.

Being a mom

So instead of the beautiful planned, staged, and styled photos that I had planned to take of my new favorite Cents of Style cardigan, I will show you how I have been wearing it these past two days. Big sister won’t let us cuddle her because she is in too much pain, but we play on the couch and on the floor next to her, so she doesn’t feel like she is all alone.  [Read more…]

Back to School Clothes Deals

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included back to school clothes and essentials as compensation. #KohlsBackToSchool

It is almost time for school to start again! It is hard to believe that this year, I will have a child in kindergarten! We did a little back to school shopping for preschool, but this is our first year of really needing to go shopping for a lot of back to school clothes. It is insane just how much kids can grow in even just one summer! Thankfully, we were able to find some really great deals and I hope they can help you get the most bang for your back to school buck, too!

What are Color Street Nails?

What is Color Street? You may have thought that very thought over the last 7 weeks since the company launched. I was lucky enough to have that question answered before the company launched, when I decided to join the company as a founding stylist! Color Street nails are 100% nail polish strips that are incredibly easy to apply and last for roughly 2 weeks. I am officially hooked!

Now I am able to bust out a full manicure in about 5 minutes and I don’t have any dry time! Watch this video to see just how easy and fast applying Color Street nails is! [Read more…]

Minnie Mouse Slime Recipe

We have officially caught the slime bug! We love making slime at our house and I love coming up with new recipes and new themes for each batch of slime that we make. I recently started playing around with a slime recipe that includes lotion in it that ends up making the slime so soft and smooth! I knew I needed to use that recipe when I created this fun Minnie Mouse Slime!

This slime is fun to play with just as regular slime, but it is also fun to try and treasure hunt to find the different designs that are hiding in the slime. It is a great sensory activity to play that also helps work on fine motor skills as kids use their fingers to search for the little pieces. Obviously, this isn’t a toy for kids that are too small because the beads in the slime would be considered a choking hazard. For my Minnie Mouse loving 5 year old, this slime was perfect! Big Disney Announcements!

Last weekend, the D23 event was held. If you aren’t sure what that is, it is basically the event of all Disney events! It is where Disney announces all of the big news about upcoming changes to their parks, movies, etc. It’s basically a huge, nerdy dream of mine to attend D23 someday! Because I am just too excited to keep all of these D23 announcements to myself, I wanted to share some of my personal favorite announcements that Disney made!
