Metallic Trees Snow Globe Apothecary Jars

Metallic Tree Snow Globe Apothecary Jars

I can’t believe that it is finally the time of year that I can talk about my love of Christmas on here and not get my wrist slapped! I am so excited to bring you my first Christmas post of the season! I have several holiday projects coming your way and some pretty amazing holiday giveaways too! It is going to be a pretty epic holiday season, if I do say so myself! When it comes to my holiday decor, I like things to be unique, but relatively simple. There are already so many things that come with Christmas decor, I don’t like to overwhelm myself too much by having really busy decorations everywhere too. That’s why I loved the concept of these snow globe apothecary jars. Forgive me, the pictures aren’t my best, but if you could see them in person, you would flip out over how gorgeous they really are!

Like I said, I like things to be pretty simple, that’s why this project can be done in pretty much no time. Here’s what you need… [Read more…]

Our Christmas Card 2014

Can you even believe that it is already November? The time has come to start thinking about… Christmas! Yep. I dared say it. It is that magical time of the year! I love all of the feelings of holiday spirit that come during this time each year. The smells, the food, the decorations, gift giving, and the mail! If you ask my husband, he would probably say that I am a bit obsessed with checking my mail. I love it! It is like Christmas everyday when I open the mailbox to find envelopes addressed to me. Maybe I need to get out more, but it really one of the highlights of my day. This is ESPECIALLY the case when it is Christmas time. I absolutely love checking the mail and finding holiday cards from people that we love. I love seeing pictures of friends and family and seeing how much their family has grown over the past year. I enjoy reading their letters and feel like it adds such a special spirit to the holidays.

I have always made it a point to send out Christmas cards since being married. Even if I am a major fan of technology, there is just something that makes you feel a lot more special when you get an actual card over an e card. I absolutely love Shutterfly and feel like their cards are not only gorgeous, but are completely affordable too. I have used them for years.

Get help planning holiday parties!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bed Bath & Beyond for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I LOVE attending holiday parties! It might just be my favorite part about this time of year. It seems like there is a party happening every week! When you are the host of one of these holiday parties, planning can be very stressful. Why not get a little help with your holiday party planning from Bed Bath & Beyond? Did you know they have a special part of their site called Holiday Your Way that is made to help people get ready for the holidays? There are sections for food and recipes, entertaining, decorating, and gifting! They really are trying to help create the least stressful holiday for everyone by providing great tips, ideas, and more on this one magical site!

This week, I am attending two different Ugly Sweater parties! I have been given food assignments for both parties. The Holiday Your Way site has tons of Holiday Recipes to choose from so I can find the perfect recipes for the parties I will be attending.

I think this White Chocolate Macadamia Frozen Treat Sandwich recipe looks divine! It would be perfect for any holiday party.

I also loved looking through the gifting section of the Holiday Your Way site because I found this awesome article about mailing cookies overseas! My brother is currently living in Colombia and I would love to send him fresh baked cookies. I didn’t know that that was even an option!

I found the article about making houseguests happy in the Holiday Entertaining section really helpful too! My mother in law always comes to stay with us over Christmas and I would love for her to be as comfortable as we can make her feel.

I highly recommend checking out this site for all of your holiday needs!

What are your holiday tips? Do you have any special treats you make during this season?

Our 2013 Christmas card and the perfect gift!

I love receiving Christmas cards in the mail! Christmas cards are one thing that I am glad technology hasn’t totally taken away. I love good old fashioned snail mail this time of year. I love seeing smiling families and reading updates on how everyone is doing. It adds a really special feeling to my holiday season. I have always sent out Christmas cards. Even before my daughter was born. I send them because I know how good it feels to receive them in the mail. Every year, we have gotten our Christmas cards from Shutterfly. It has kind of always just felt like a no brainer for me to pick them for my Christmas card needs. Their designs are great and the prices are totally reasonable too! Now without further ado, our Christmas card for 2013…

2013 Christmas Card from Shutterfly

Could you die?! Isn’t it perfection? I can’t wait to show you the details about my family pictures, but for now consider this a little sneak peek at them!

Shutterfly Christmas Card

I chose this card from Shutterfly because it was totally love at first sight. I love the color scheme of it. I love that it is mostly brown and that it incorporates the black and white into it too. I think that adds a very modern approach to the traditional Christmas card feel. I also loved that these cards allowed you to talk about members of the family personally. It is easy to highlight the family members that way. I also love that I can write everything I want to on this card without having to type up an entire family newsletter to put in separately with our Christmas cards.

12x12 Shutterfly Calendar

I give my mom a calendar for Christmas every year. I started doing that when I was about 14 years old. I have been doing it for over a decade now so my mom now just expects it! When I first started, I would scrapbook the entire thing. I had to start making it months in advance because it was so much work. It also was very expensive after paying for the photos to be printed and all of the supplies. Eventually I started using Photoshop and I made her calendar on there. It was a little faster, but was still pretty time consuming. I went to get it printed and it was a lot more than I had expected! It was a little discouraging because I knew my mom loved getting these calendars for Christmas. Then, three years ago I saw that I could make a calendar on Shutterfly for my mom. My life got so much easier! I was able to put together my mom’s totally personalized calendar in about an hour. The Shutterfly calendar didn’t come at all close to costing what the printed calendar costed to print at my local print shop either. It was a Christmas miracle! Now my little Christmas tradition lives on with my mom’s Christmas calendar this year! This year is extra fun though because Shutterfly just released their new 12×12 calendar size! It is perfect for my mom because she takes the pages off after the year is done and puts them in a scrapbook. These pages will fit perfectly inside of a scrapbook!

Do you order your Christmas cards from Shutterfly? What ones are you sending this year? Do you give personalized gifts for Christmas?

I was given these products from Shutterfly, but was not otherwise compensated. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Create a LEGO Minifigure Holiday Card!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LEGO for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When your kids get out of school for Christmas break, they are going to get bored pretty quickly. It is good to have some ideas already prepared for the times that your kids are driving you crazy because they are so bored! One thing that can really keep them entertained is this awesome website that lets you create LEGO Minifigure Family postcards!

I created one of my family and it cracks me up!

It looks just like we got the family all together for Christmas and we turned into LEGO minifigures!

This website is really easy to work with so your kids would be totally fine using it on their own. You can customize each of the minifigures to make them look as much like the actual people as possible. You can choose skin tone, hair and hats, and clothing. You can even add pets to your photo! After you create your minifigures, you can choose what scene you want them to be standing in front of too. You can then choose to save the photo or share it on your social media outlets.

It was so fun to make this and I can’t wait to share it on social media. I think my friends and family will crack up over it. Remember to send your kids over to create a LEGO Minifigure Family of their own as soon as you hear the words “I’m bored” this Christmas break!

Calendar and Scrapbook of Memories in ONE!

I am an organization snob. There is nothing that speaks to my soul more than a fresh notebook, a brand new planner, or a beautiful calendar! I love penciling in holidays, vacations, and appointments in a new calendar while I think about all of the new, fun memories that will be created that year. Well, both of those things join together in the new Michael’s Recollections Calendar Kit. It is the perfect way to combine your calendar with your scrapbook! It comes with adorable cards to put in different photo slots and stickers for every occasion so you can personalize your calendar while creating a special memory keeping journal all year long.

DIY Calendar

The calendar is really easy to put together because it comes with everything you need!

DIY Scrapbook Calendar

You just put the paper with the tab for each month in the binder, along with a photo sleeve, then the actual calendar.

Scrapbook calendar

After that, it is up to you to personalize it! I think this calendar will be the perfect way to display some of my favorite Instagram photos from the year. The photo slots are almost the perfect size for Instagram photos.

Easy Scrapbook Calendar

You can decorate your calendar with the cute cards they have to put in there with fun sayings and prints like I did for March.

Simple DIY Calendar kit

Or you can put the cards in that require a little more writing. These are perfect for jotting down special memories from the month that you don’t ever want to forget.

Calendar kit from Michaels

Writing down special occasions is really easy too because of how many fun stickers are available in the kit. It will be so fun to add in vacations and any other special things that happen throughout the year to the calendar so that we can always remember them.

The coolest part about this calendar, is not only can it be hung up all year long, but then it folds over and turns into a perfect scrapbook of all of your special memories from the year that you can store on your bookshelf! These calendars would be perfect gifts for Christmas for mom, grandma, or your sister! It is only $39.99 too so it wouldn’t be much of an investment either. The recipient of the gift won’t have to worry about investing a bunch of money into scrapbooking supplies or investing a lot of time into creating a beautiful calendar either because all of the hard work has been done for them already!

DIY Gold Dipped Feather Ornament

Gold Dipped Feather DIY Ornament

I love getting inspiration from high end fashion pieces and bringing some of that inspiration into my home decor.

That is exactly what I did with my gold feather dipped ornaments! I love all of the gold that keeps showing up on clothing and accessories and I knew I wanted to bring that into my Christmas decor this year. I also am loving all of the feather details I see on shirts, leggings, and jewelry too! What a better way to bring those two elements together than in a Christmas ornament? These ornaments were so easy to make too!

You will need:

*Clear ornament (I used plastic ones from Michael’s)

*White feathers

*Gold spray paint

*Piece of paper

*Painter’s tape

**Optional** Additional accessories to put in the ornament

How to make gold dipped feathers on #feather #christmas

Lay your feathers out in a row. Put the paper on top of the feathers, leaving the top half of the feathers exposed. Tape the paper onto the feathers.

Spray paint the tops of the feathers and let them dry.

Stuff the feathers into the ornament. At this point, you can add additional items into the ornaments too. I made one with just the feathers in it, one with pearl strands in it, one with gold balls in it, and one with gold glitter in it! The possibilities are totally endless!

These ornaments will add just the right amount of glam and sparkle to your tree this year!

Christmas Gift Guide for the Men in Our Lives

It can be hard to shop for men. They say they aren’t picky, but when it really comes down to it, they are. There are so many gift guides out there that are really broad, but not every man likes the same thing. They have different styles too! I created a Christmas gift guide for the types of men in my life that I will be buying for this year and I hope that they offer a little guidance for you too! I have collaborated with Kohl’s a few times in the past and I absolutely love their company and their products. Everything I have chosen is from Kohl’s which is a total bonus because they always seem to have great coupons and deals too so you can rest assured that these items will be at some of the best prices you can find anywhere!

First off, I have my dad to shop for. He can be hard to shop for because when he wants something throughout the year, he just buys it. He is kind of a computer nerd, but he has recently gotten really interested in training for a triathlon. I created a gift guide for him that would hopefully give you some gift ideas for the athletic man in your life!

I’m sure that  most of us have a tech savvy man in our lives. I actually have a few in my life. My dad and my husband. However, my husband’s entire life revolves around technology. He is an online teacher and an online student. When he isn’t working on the computer, he gets to hear about my job that revolves around the internet as well. He needs to look nice when he works, but wants to be pretty comfortable because he is sitting at a computer desk all day. It is important to keep his gift guide both tech inspired and full of nice, comfortable clothes. Something that makes Kohl’s the perfect place to shop for him, is they have a pretty large selection of tall sizes! My husband is 6’5” and it is really hard to find him stylish, affordable clothes that actually fit him. Kohl’s is our go to spot for his wardrobe. I will be linking to tall sizes for his gift guide, but almost all of their tall clothes are available in regular sizes too.

Teenage boys can be really hard to shop for. They have very specific styles that they like or everything they want is way over the budget. My brother is 16 years old and fits both of those categories… he has really a really specific style and everything else he wants is a small fortune. I pulled together a few things that I think he would really like. Hopefully it can help ease your shopping experience with your teenage boys!

What are you getting the guys in your life for Christmas?

Holiday Travel Survival Kit including toys, gum and treats!

Traveling with your family during the holidays can be a challenge. If you have ever traveled with kids of any age, you know it is hard no matter how old they are! If you have family coming to visit you this holiday season, or if you have a neighbor that you know will be traveling, a holiday travel survival kit may just be the perfect gift for them! I made a holiday travel survival kit that would gear to a family similar to my own. I included treats for the whole family, a coloring book and crayons to keep the toddler busy, a magazine for mom or teenage daughters, a drink for the toddler, and Extra mint gum to keep everyone’s mouths busy during the car ride.

Putting this basket together was easy when I just stopped to think about what my family would like. I knew we would love munchies and activities to keep our minds off of the busy road, but most important is the gum!

Wrigley's Extra Mint Gum #shop

While it is fun to have sugary snacks during a road trip, it is important to eat them in moderation. I always like to chew gum to help pass the sugar cravings by. I have always loved Wrigley’s Extra Peppermint gum flavor! I remember my grandma always having that flavor at her house when I was little and I would go steal pieces throughout the day when I would visit her. It was my secret treat that probably wasn’t much of a secret when I would have several sticks of gum in my tiny mouth. When I was in middle school, I was introduced to Wrigley’s Extra Spearmint and Polar Ice. I became a total gum addict. I think it is a middle school trend to have a constant piece of gum in your mouth. I went through my fair share of packages and to my mom’s dismay, a few went through the washing machine too! Wrigley’s Extra gum has been a go to treat for me my entire life. I think it is a great way to get past those tough cravings because it eases them and it is sugar free!

What is your favorite flavor of Wrigley’s Extra gum? Do you find yourself chewing it more during the winter? I love the feel of the cool mint when it is cool outside!

What kinds of things would you put in a holiday travel survival kit for your own family? Remember to keep this idea in mind for the family or friends who are coming to visit you this holiday season! Don’t forget to pack them some Wrigley’s Extra gum while your at it too!

Grinch Drinks

Hello, Glam friends! I’m Alli from Cupcake Diaries and I’m SO excited to be at Girl Loves Glam today! McKenzie is pretty fabulous and happens to be my cousin. (Well…my husband’s cousin, but that’s close enough!) I just love this girl.

‘Tis the season for holiday yumminess! I LOVE all things that have to do with holiday treats, including yummy drinks! My kids love “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” so we like to make these yummy Grinch Drinks and have a fun little party with popcorn and chocolate.

Grinch Drinks are so fun, festive, and incredibly easy to make. They’re perfect for Christmas parties, Grinch movie nights, or any kind of Christmas celebration!
Grinch Drinks
  • Sprite
  • vanilla ice cream (or lime sherbet, depending on what flavor you’re looking for)
  • green food coloring (if using the vanilla ice cream-the lime sherbet will already make the drink green)
  • green sugar crystals (found at any grocery store in the baking section or holiday food section)
  • straws
Start by placing some Sprite on a small plate. Coat the rim of the glass with Sprite. Roll the glass on a tilt to get more Sprite on the rim.
Place some of the green sugar crystals on a plate, enough to coat on the glass rim, and move the glass through the sugar crystals to coat. The same rolling of the glass around the plate will give you a nicer coat.
After the glass is rimmed with the sugar crystals, it’s time to put in the good stuff!
If you’re using lime sherbet:
  • Add 1-2 cups lime sherbet (depending on how much you want in the drinks) right after coating the rim.
  • Fill the glass up with Sprite and gaze at the amazingness that you just made.
  • Place a straw in the glass to serve. (optional)
If you’re using vanilla ice cream:
  • Fill about 1/3 of the glass with Sprite. Add a drop of green food coloring and gently stir with a spoon.
  • Add 1-2 cups vanilla ice cream (depending on how much you want in the drink) and continue to fill the glass up with Sprite.
  • Place a straw in the glass to serve. (optional)

And that’s it! Super easy and super yummy.
I would love to have you join me on my blog, as well as other social media outlets!
