Fall is totally a bittersweet moment each year for me. I love the heat and the sunshine that the summer brings, but there is something pretty magical about Fall. I love layering clothing, sipping on hot chocolate, and freezing my booty off at football games. Every year, I love to stock up on all of the September fashion magazines to see what all of the trends will be for the next season. I find time after I have tucked my busy two year old into bed and curl up on the couch to devour every last page of these magazines. It is a small moment in time that I an escape from being a small time stay at home mom in Idaho and pretend that I am a fashionista who can afford the gorgeous Fall pieces shown on the catwalks.
This year, when I was buying my magazines, I was even more excited because I bought them at Target… aka the greatest store on earth to any stay at home mom. Target has a deal right now that when you buy any two fall fashion magazines (InStyle, ELLE, and/or Vogue), you get a $5 Target gift card, now through September 13th! That means momma can get her fall fashion magazines AND her secret chocolate stash to eat while looking at them! Am I right?
I loved looking at the 2014 fall hair and makeup trends that were featured in each magazine to see what kinds of styles I would be trying out this season. One thing I noticed time and time again is that the hair was pretty messy. Whoever decided that messy hair was a trendy thing, is a saint! I can feel fashionable all day long, no matter how messy my hair gets!
To create my most manageable messy hair, I use my curling wand with the widest iron that it came with to create loose curls, brush them out, and use my favorite sea spray.
I mess my hair up with my hands a little bit and spray with hairspray. Easy, fast, and fashionable! I have a video tutorial for creating great tousled curls HERE if you need help with your curling wand!
I also couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous Fall makeup! One thing I noticed time and time again was the bold brows that every model had! No matter how simple or dramatic the rest of the makeup was, there were bold eyebrows to go with it! I also loved the dark lipstick I saw that was paired with very subtle, but shiny eye shadow!
To create my makeup look, I used a dark eyebrow color and a very fine tipped brush to fill in my eyebrows. On my eyes, I used a very dark purple that I pushed right into the lash line on the top and bottom lashes, instead of using eyeliner. Then I used a rosy brown mid tone color on my eyelids, up to the crease, and a soft cream shadow color from the crease to the brows. I put on mascara, foundation, and blush before moving onto my lips. This epic, amazing lip color will probably be one of my favorites all season long. There are so many fabulous dark lipstick colors that are available right now to choose from! You can even find some great ones (like this) that are totally affordable too!
Do you drool over Fall fashion magazines? What Fall trends are you looking forward to rocking this season?
