Vintage Wooden Jewelry Box Makeover

I am participating in a really fun activity called the Thrifty Stash Snap Swap. How it works, is we are paired up with another person who will be going to Snap. We get to know each other and send them some thrifted goodies from our personal craft stash and from the thrift store! We do at least one project with the items, post about it, and then we get to meet our partner at the Snap conference next month! It has been a lot of fun! My project that I chose to do was making over an amazing vintage wooden jewelry box that I was sent.

Isn’t it just amazing?! I love how the colors look together! For the swap, I was partnered with Sarah, from Craft Quickies. She has a really cute blog that you should all check out! She sent me a really awesome box of goodies.
There are so many projects that I can already think of that I can do with all of this goodness! There will be more on the way! Let’s take a look at that gorgeous jewelry box…
I love all of the brass details, squares, and the yellow inside! I love the natural wood, but it was banged up pretty bad so I knew I would need to give it a little love.
I wanted a good, vibrant blue that wasn’t too turquoise. I got three different colors of blue acrylic paint and mixed them together. Then, I painted the jewelry box with about 3 coats of paint.
I fell in love instantly! I didn’t put any sort of sealer over it, and I don’t think I will. I don’t want it to be overly shiny and I like the way it looks just as is.
It was so fun to fill it up with my jewelry! I can’t wait to use the other things that Sarah sent me! To see some of the other Thrifty Stash Snap Swap posts, check out these links!

This looks so great! I have an old wooden jewelry box like this that needs some love, but I never thought to paint it a bright color.
