Makeup Basics: Eyebrows VIDEO

After a one week hiatus because I had ZERO voice, I am back with YouTube Monday! My voice kind of reminds me of Phoebe’s on Friends when she has her sick, sultry voice. I have a little sultry vibe in there still, but It wasn’t going to keep me from skipping out on this video!

I have had a ton of questions about how to apply eyebrow makeup and after taking a little survey on my social media, I realized that A LOT of you wanted a video about it. Your wish is my command!

Makeup Basics: Eyebrows on www.girllovesglam.com

I am not really an expert in the eyebrow department. Eyebrows haven’t really been a huge deal until the last couple of years, so I have had to learn by trial and error. I will share my tips and teach you how I apply my eyebrow makeup! [Read more…]

Makeup Makeover: Crystal from A Pumpkin and a Princess

Makeup makeover for Crystal, of the blog A Pumpkin and a Princess.

I remember being pretty intimidated to meet Crystal from the blog, A Pumpkin and a Princess a few years ago. When I say meet, I mean online. I was starting a little group where we would chat about blogging topics and someone had suggested having her join in. If you have seen her blog you would know exactly why I was intimidated. This girl has serious talent! As soon as she opened her mouth, I knew I didn’t need to be intimidated at all! This girl is literally one of the nicest humans I have ever met!

A few months later, I met her in real life and she was even better when there wasn’t a computer screen between us. Since then, we have been to many more conferences together and I enjoy every second hanging out with her. This girl LOVES beauty products… maybe even more than I do if that is even possible. She was nervous about doing her makeup last year and she asked me to do her eye shadow one day. I taught her a few tricks and she really liked what we came up with. This year, I convinced her to let me play with her face some more for her very own Girl Loves Glam makeover!

Now, this obviously isn’t an everyday look. It is pretty glammed up, but I wanted to make Crystal look like the foxy momma she is! Blog conferences are fun because it gives moms a chance to get dolled up, without worrying about real life and I wanted to let Crystal embrace that (in a total glamorous way) for the day!

I absolutely love this girl! Natalie was one of my very first blogger friends that I ever made. She is hilarious, beautiful, and crazy talented! She is half of the talent of the blog, My Sister’s Suitcase. Natalie has a lot going on in her life. She is a mom of three, she blogs, she is a wife, and she just moved! She deserved this makeover! She wanted to have a look that felt natural, but made her feel like a million bucks.

Everyday Makeup Routine: YouTube Monday

This post contains some affiliate links.

Another YouTube Monday is upon us! I have been asked a lot about my everyday makeup routine. I toyed around with the idea of doing a blog post about it, but there are just too many steps to explain in text form. Videos require more effort and it took me a while, but I finally filmed my everyday makeup routine and it is here for your viewing pleasure!

A Makeover

I have wanted to start doing makeovers on here for a while now, but just kept putting it off. I really enjoy doing makeovers, but just wasn’t sure if I wanted to jump on the bandwagon of doing them on my blog. After debating it for months, I decided to jump right in when my friend Christi asked me if I would help her glam up her look. She is a mom of four boys who keep her busy with their extra curricular activities and her job at a daycare. She deserved a glamorous look that made her feel fabulous!

She wanted me to give her a look that was glamorous and perfect for special occasions, but could be played down a little too for an everyday look. That is exactly what we were able to achieve! [Read more…]

Brave and Beautiful

I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in!! Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.

Me along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag – #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!

Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!

2014 Fall Hair and Makeup Trends on www.girllovesglam.com

Fall is totally a bittersweet moment each year for me. I love the heat and the sunshine that the summer brings, but there is something pretty magical about Fall. I love layering clothing, sipping on hot chocolate, and freezing my booty off at football games. Every year, I love to stock up on all of the September fashion magazines to see what all of the trends will be for the next season. I find time after I have tucked my busy two year old into bed and curl up on the couch to devour every last page of these magazines. It is a small moment in time that I an escape from being a small time stay at home mom in Idaho and pretend that I am a fashionista who can afford the gorgeous Fall pieces shown on the catwalks.

Perfect Mascara Application for Gorgeous Lashes

Perfect Mascara Application on www.girllovesglam.com

You know you have seen that girl. The one with the spiders on her eyes? Oh wait! Those spiders are just her eyelashes! Yep. It is a serious issue and it is one of my biggest pet peeves ever! You have probably also seen that girl who wears false lashes or eyelash extensions that look totally fake. I am not against false lashes or eyelash extensions as long as they still look natural. The problem is a lot of times, they don’t look natural at all! Women go to all lengths to take their lashes to new lengths! They want the perfect lashes but can’t seem to find the perfect mascara to do the job for them. Well, guess what? There isn’t a perfect mascara to do the job! There are a few simple steps you can follow to create perfectly flawless lashes that are natural! You don’t need to be a makeup artist to be able to perfect your mascara application. All you need to do is follow these easy steps.

Mascara Application on www.girllovesglam.com

You will need…

*Mascara with small, fine wand (I like to use the Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara)

*Mascara with rubber wand (I use the Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara)

*Mascara that is for fullness or volume (I currently am loving the Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara)

*Full size eyelash curler (I use the Elf Studio one)

*Small eyelash curler (I use the Elf  Studio one)

What Eyelash Curlers to use on www.girllovesglam.com

First, you want to curl your eyelashes with the full sized eyelash curler. You want to start at the base and curl and then come out a little and curl again and again a little further out so the curl comes out naturally instead of just having one crease at the base. Go back with the small eyelash curler and curl the inside and outside lashes to really make them pop.

Mascara Application Tips on www.girllovesglam.com

Now, put a really thin coat of the mascara with the fine wand. Only put this on your top lashes. Let the mascara dry completely before moving onto the next step. It takes about 2-3 minutes to dry. I suggest moving onto a different part of your makeup routine while you let it try. If you don’t let your mascara dry completely in between coats, it can become very clumpy.

How to apply perfect mascara on www.girllovesglam.com

Apply another thin coat of mascara on your top eyelashes. This time you will be applying the mascara with the rubber wand. Make sure that you are only applying a very thin coat. Let your mascara dry completely before moving onto the next step.

Now for your final type of mascara! The mascara for volume should be used last because you can be slightly more generous with the coat that you put on your lashes. Apply a coat of this mascara on your top lashes.

Then apply a coat of the same mascara on your bottom lashes. They only need one coat of mascara.

Now you have gorgeous lashes! This may seem like a little bit of work, but I promise it doesn’t take long when you are doing other things between each coat of mascara. The results are TOTALLY worth it!
