Decorating with Betsey Johnson and Kleenex

I’m showcasing the new Kleenex Brand Ready to Care Collection by Betsey Johnson as part of a sponsored series with Socialstars. #KleenexBetseyStyle

Exactly one year ago, I was in New York City celebrating with Kleenex Brand. They had just announced their first collaboration with a designer and I was able to go to their big reveal with Isaac Mizrahi. It was such a fun experience! Being there and working with Kleenex before my trip, I really came to appreciate Kleenex as a company more than I ever had before. I have always been an avid Kleenex fan, but I really loved them after that trip. Imagine my excitement when I found out that one of my favorite companies (Kleenex) teamed up with my very favorite designer this year, the Kleenex Brand Ready to Care Collection by Betsey Johnson!

Words really can’t express just how perfect all of these designs are for my home decor. They have fit in seamlessly. I love that Kleenex has designs like this that fit in perfectly with real lifestyles. A Kleenex box can sit out on a table and feel like a piece of decor, instead of an eyesore.

When I went to NYC with Kleenex, I felt a sense of pressure on what I was going to wear when I was at their event at Grand Central Station with Isaac Mizrahi. I mean, what do you wear to meet a designer when you don’t have the budget to go out and grab one of his designs right then and there?

For reals, this will go down as one of my favorite outfits… ever.

I love a classic black and white look. And I love color. Why not marry the two? Thankfully, I already owned 90% of this outfit. The only thing I purchased for my trip, was my dress. It was perfect for the event and I felt professional and confident while I was there representing Kleenex as a brand ambassador. Unfortunately, because I did already own most of this and because this dress from Kohl’s is so dang cute, everything I am wearing is unavailable. I did, however find some very similar items (some are exactly the same too)!’

My Trip to NYC with Kleenex

Girl Loves Glam in NYC

First of all, I feel like I need to prepare you mentally for the photo overload you are about to experience. Pictures speak much louder than words for me so that is how I am going to speak to you through this post… Well, until you get to the video part that I actually do speak to you…

Times Square New York City

A week ago, I was in the Big Apple. It seems so strange to think that I was only there just a week ago. In some ways I feel like I was just there yesterday, and in other ways this trip feels like a lifetime ago. I was able to go to NYC because Kleenex sent me there to attend a big reveal event they had at Grand Central Station to celebrate their 90th anniversary! To celebrate, they had Isaac Mizrahi design four new designs for their boxes that they revealed at the event I attended. Here are some highlights from the trip.

For the first night, Kleenex put me up in a cute hotel called 70 Park Avenue. I loved how the room was decorated!

When I first got to the Kleenex event, they had boxes of their current designs out for people to admire, photo props to take photo booth pictures, and kiosks that people could go to to enter to win a $500 shopping spree.

I had to take the opportunity to play in the photo booth!

Then the big moment came. Isaac Mizrahi! He came and announced his 4 new designs in front of a crowd of people and snagged some photos with Kleenex executives.

His designs were revealed on a giant Kleenex box made of 4 huge LCD screens. It was a huge way to celebrate such incredible designs!

There couldn’t have been a better setting than Grand Central Station to kick off such a big year for Kleenex. Their company has grown so much over the years. They have so much history to celebrate and the gorgeous, historical Grand Central Station was the perfect place to do it. If you are ever there, don’t forget to look up! Isn’t this place gorgeous?

After Isaac made his big reveal, the old designs that were on the tables were quickly switched out with his new designs. Aren’t they perfection? I am OBSESSED with the pink floral print. I need it in a dress.

After the big reveal, it was hard to say goodbye to the new friends I had made at the event. The people who put this event together are such kind, hardworking people! They all instantly felt like family to me. I said goodbye and made my way to Carnegie Deli for lunch.

I feel like I need to do some explaining about this sandwich. My dad came on this trip with me. When I found out that I was going to go to NYC, I was only going to be going for about 24 hours. I knew that wasn’t going to be enough time for me, but I didn’t want to spend more time than that in NYC by myself. I asked a few friends and nobody was going to be able to come with me. That is when my dad hopped in the conversation and told me that he had enough frequent flyer miles to come with me! I am so glad that he came with me! He did his own thing while I was at the Kleenex event, but it was so fun to have him there to explore the city with. Anyways, back to the sandwich. The second night we stayed in NYC, we stayed at the Marriott Fairfield. There is the BEST bell boy of all time who works there. My dad wanted a recommendation of a great NYC style deli sandwich and the bell boy immediately sent us to Carnegie Deli and told us to share a sandwich. Thank goodness for his recommendation because THIS is half of a sandwich! It was St. Patrick’s Day and we felt like we needed to celebrate with a Reuben sandwich. The corned beef and sauerkraut hit the spot!

To top the day off, I went to Mood Designer Fabrics. This has been something that I have wanted to do for years! I have been a Project Runway fan from the beginning and it was so fun to see where the fabric magic happens. This place is HUGE! There are three floors that are completely STUFFED with fabric. I could have stayed there all day. My dad found a nice spot to sit while I did some fabric shopping and when I found him again he had found Swatch the dog! I was so excited to see the famous puppy in person. He is a sweet little pup.

I am so grateful to Kleenex for this opportunity. I seriously can’t find the right words to thank them enough. This was something that I never would have thought would happen to a girl like me. I am grateful for all of you incredible readers for supporting me so this could happen too! I know that none of this would have been possible without you guys! I seriously love you guys. Like for reals.

What’s In My Bag?

This post is sponsored by Kleenex Brand. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think you can learn a lot about a person by the items that they carry in their bag. I thought it would be fun to take a look in my purse so you can learn a little bit more about me.

What's in my bag

First off, could my purse be any cuter? I love it, except it doesn’t always stay closed because I have so much stuff in there. Now to see what I carry in my bag!

What is in my bag Girl Loves Glam

Wallet- I have owned this wallet from The Buckle for years and still get compliments on it. It is one accessory I have owned for several years and still love.

Lotion- I always feel like my hands feel the most dry when I am running errands. Maybe it is the cold, dry Idaho weather. This lotion comes in handy all of the time. Sometimes it has other uses. Like today, it was used to help slick my daughter’s crazy hair down when we were running errands. You just never know when you will need lotion!

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel- This comes in handy with a toddler and with nasty shopping carts!

Sunglasses- I can’t leave the house without sunglasses. AND a case for them. I have had far too many sunglass casualties from them not being in a case.

Business cards- You just never know when you are going to need a business card. No matter what industry you are in, you need your business cards with you at all times!

Pen- Keep in mind that this isn’t the only pen floating around in my purse. I actually have an entire army of pens floating around in there. If I only have one pen, I can’t ever find it when I need a pen! P.S. I am a total pen snob. Is that weird? Please tell me there are other pen snobs out there. This pen (I actually have it in a few other colors too) is my favorite pen of all time.

Luna S’mores bar- I ALWAYS have one of these protein bars in my purse. They are huge lifesavers for me. When I am starving and just want to stop and get a cheapo cheeseburger, I can eat this instead and it totally holds me over until I can get something healthier. These come in handy too when I have an angry shopping toddler. She loves these bars.

Compact mirror- To check if there is anything between my teeth or to make sure my lipstick isn’t all over my face.

Tape measure- That might seem weird to you, but how many times have you been out looking for decor items and can’t decide if you want it because you aren’t sure if it will fit your space? This tape measure doubles as toddler entertainment too. It’s pretty much a win/win.

Lipstick and Lip gloss- This is like the pen situation. These two that are photographed are just a representation of the random assortment of lipstick and lip glosses floating around in my purse. Sometimes I need pink, other times red, and on occasion I just need a little gloss. I need to have options!

Phone- I mean, does this one really even need to be addressed? Don’t we all feel naked when we don’t have our phones with us?

Planner- You may or may not know this about me. I am a big time planner. Like OCD planner. I like to have a plan. I have things scheduled on my blog calendar, my church calendar, my phone calendar, and this planner in my purse marries them all together so I can keep my life straight and stay somewhat sane.

Kleenex tissues- I saved this one for last because it might seem weird, but I am a firm believer that after the wallet and the cell phone, having tissues in my purse is the next most important thing in my purse. I have allergies all year long. My husband told me that I blow my nose more than anyone he has ever met. That is probably true. These come in handy when there are messy toddler hands too. I swear by this.

The great thing about choosing Kleenex Brand for my purse, is they have adorable designs too. They have several colors to choose from so you can even match your purse or wallet if you want! Check out the designs they offer and see what one fits you best HERE.

Did you know that Kleenex brand is turning 90 this year? They are celebrating in a big way by hosting a huge reveal event on March 17 at Grand Central Station in NYC where they will be unveiling the new Kleenex brand designs live with Isaac Mizrahi! I will be there! If you want a chance to be there too, go enter NOW! The contest ends tonight. Enter by going to this link HERE. I hope to see you in NYC!

So what do you think of what I carry in my bag? Anything weird? What do you carry in your bag?
