Our 2016 Christmas Cards

As much as technology has taken over all of our lives, I really appreciate getting traditional mail. I love the act of walking out to the mailbox, pulling out envelopes and opening them up to see what was sent! Everyone knows that this is even better during the holiday season! Seeing family Christmas cards is one of my favorite parts about this season! We have ordered our holiday cards from Shutterfly for the past 7 years! Before we even had kids, I wanted to make it a point to send out cards because I knew that our loved ones would appreciate the thought that went into them.

It is pretty amazing to see how many different styles of holiday cards that Shutterfly has created over the years. There are SO many options now! I usually try a different style each year. This year, we tried out the glitter holiday cards and they are awesome! The sparkle doesn’t rub off and they just make the card look a little more festive!

Christmas Angel Kids Craft

One thing I love to do as a mom is involve my Harper in holiday decorating. She loves to be included in the process and it is even better when we decorate with something that she has created herself! This year, we made this adorable handprint and footprint angel that can be displayed for years to come.

I have to give a lot of the credit for this idea to my mom. She has a similar piece of art that my brother made when he was about four years old. My mom made up the idea with finger paint, but I wanted this project to be quick and mess free so we made a few adjustments. I love the idea of creating a craft together that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. I love thinking about the angels who came to sing and rejoice. We talked a lot about the angels while we made this craft together and it became a great teaching moment while we created this little Christmas angel keepsake together! [Read more…]

5 Simple Tips for Healthy Eating this Holiday Season

Many of you have made comments about my husband’s noticeable weight loss that has occurred this year. He has lost over 50 lbs since May! While I have been been putting on the baby weight, he has been focusing on his health in a major way and has lost more weight than our four year old weighs!

Before and After 50 lb weight loss

One of the things that Dave has really changed has been how he eats. Going from someone who drank a lot of Dr. Pepper everyday to someone who loves to stay home and make delicious, healthy food is a pretty huge transformation itself!

He recently started a blog called Run.Eat.Poop.Repeat. where he is documenting his experience as he continues to strive to live a healthy lifestyle. He offered to share some of his tips to eating healthy during the holiday season for all of you! Although he hasn’t experienced a Thanksgiving or Christmas with his new, healthy lifestyle, he has endured anniversaries, birthdays, etc throughout the year that he has really learned from. If you are interested in following along with his journey and getting more tips, you can follow his blog. He would LOVE the support!

Easy Bright Confetti Pumpkins Halloween Decor

I have realized as I decorate for holidays that I really like non traditional holiday decor. If there are Halloween decorations in a store that are made with colors besides just orange and black, I always find myself gravitated to them. I love the different perspective that non traditional colors can bring to a holiday. This year is the first year that I have had the opportunity to decorate for Halloween in our current home because we moved almost exactly a year ago and the last thing I was about to do was decorate for Halloween when I was just trying to get my life out of boxes. It has been really fun to decorate this year and to take out old decor that I forgot that I even owned! One spot in my house that I knew I wouldn’t have decor for was my coffee table. We have a tray that goes on there that usually has succulents in it but I wanted something a little more festive for Halloween. I knew that I didn’t want it to be totally traditional because my living room is such a bright and cheery space.

The perfect solution was to make these adorable confetti pumpkins!

I love how much color these pumpkins bring to my Halloween decor but I think the best part about these is the fact that they are INSANELY easy to make! They are so easy to make, my four year old helped me with most of it! [Read more…]

Celebrating a Bold Man this Father’s Day

I am sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored post for Socialstars

I don’t think dads are given as much credit as they should be given. When I was shopping for a Father’s Day card this year, I was sad to see so many cards that made fun of dads. I agree that there should be humor in life, but some of the cards really made me sad! Mothers would be heartbroken if they got a card for Mother’s Day that was as rude as some of these Father’s Day cards were. I believe that Father’s Day should be about celebrating those great men in your life, not making fun of their imperfections.

I have been blessed to have great examples of bold men in my life. My dad was always there for me to cheer me on as I grew up, he taught me important lessons about life, and most importantly showed me what qualities I wanted to find in a future husband. My grandpas were always incredible examples of hard work, perfecting important skills, and knowing how to make good jokes. When my husband came along, I believe I found a great combination of all of those things.

Who says dad can’t have a little pampering or stylish gift for Father’s Day? Back away from the ties and traditional gifts and give him something that he may not be expecting, but will really appreciate!

Men like accessories just as much as we do, they just keep it a little more quiet than we do. Find some great sunglasses, a watch, or even a rad belt to give him to make him feel like he is one of the cool kids.  [Read more…]

Motherhood: Bringing out the Bold

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™

I have never had to question how my mom feels about me. What I may have referred to as helicopter parenting as a teenager, I know realize was just my mom’s love and concern for me. I remember thinking that I wouldn’t grow up to be a helicopter mom and now I look in the mirror and see a helicopter mom in the full flesh.

Busy Mom Life on www.girllovesglam.com

Honestly though, being a helicopter mom isn’t as bad as it sounds. I like to let my daughter experience life, take risks, and even get some bruises along the way. My definition of a helicopter mom is the type of mom who wants to be involved in their child’s life. They want to hover over their lives enough to know what is going on, enough to let their child know they are interested, but far enough away to let the child learn and grow on their own. I know that isn’t everyone’s definition, but that is how I see it. [Read more…]

Floral and Polka Dot Acrylic Makeup Case

This post contains affiliate links and was written as a part of an ambassadorship with Expressions Vinyl.

Need a great Mother’s Day gift idea? Mother’s Day can be hard holiday to shop for because you want your gift to be thoughtful. The problem is a lot of thoughtful gifts aren’t necessarily things that mom can use. I love the idea of combining both a practical gift with something thoughtful that she will love. That’s why I decided to cover a clear acrylic makeup case with vinyl to turn it into a floral and polka dot makeup holder and fill it with some of my favorite beauty products as the perfect Mother’s Day gift!

Floral Polka Dot Makeup Organizer

I think the best gifts to give are the ones that you would love to receive yourself. I know that I would love to receive this as a gift! It was really easy to make, so I will probably be making a duplicate for my own bathroom counter as well! To make your own you need… [Read more…]
