I married a major book lover. I grew up with a moderate love of books, but I learned an entirely new appreciation of books when I got married. It has been really special to see that same love be passed down to my daughter as she grows up. I just knew that I wanted to put together the best book gift guide ever for this Christmas! There are about 100 books here who have been absolutely beloved by my family or someone I love. I didn’t want this book gift guide to be just a list of best sellers. I wanted this to be a list of books that someone has actually cherished! I hope that you are able to find your next great book or your family’s new favorite book to read together. Books are popular Christmas gifts, so why not make sure it is a good one?!

First up, books for Toddlers! These are books that are great for children under the age of 4.
Llama Llama Books– I love the messages that these books teach. Whether it is going to school for the first time, or having a sick day, these sweet rhyming books are really fun to read together.
Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada
Muddle and Match Jungle Animals– There are a few different Muddle and Match books, but this is our favorite. It is really fun to have the child turn a tab and make up new, silly stories each time they turn a tab.
Now for books for kids! These are books (mostly picture books) that are great for kids between the ages 4-12. These are some of my very favorite books to read as bedtime stories.
Picture Books
The Gruffalo– This book is so cute and witty! We love the rhyming story line and love The Gruffalo Movie too!
We are in a Book!– Mo Willems books are near and dear to our hearts. This was the first book of his that we owned and the word “banana” remains an inside joke in our family!
Knuffle Bunny– Another Mo Willems book! This is beloved by so many. I can’t even tell you how many times this book was recommended to add to this gift guide.
Operation ResCUTE– This book comes with an adorable dog plush and some of the proceeds go towards saving dogs in shelters! This story is written from the dog’s perspective which makes it really unique and fun. As a bonus, during the holiday season, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to animal shelters!
No, David!– This is one book that is quoted nonstop at our house. For some reason, my daughter loves the line, “Stop that this instant!” from this book. It makes us laugh every time we read it!
The Fantastic Flying Books for Mr. Morris Lessmore
Secrets of the Rainforest (Shine a Light Book)– We own all of the Shine a Light Books and they are awesome! These books have hidden pictures in them that show up when you shine a light through the pages. The rainforest book is our favorite. My daughter loves to try to scare her dad with the hidden snake on one of the pages.
I Will Take a Nap!– Another great Mo Willems book! Elephant and Piggie are totally a part of our family after reading all of these books.
Watch Me Throw the Ball!– Mo Willems does it again! Seriously, I don’t want to bore you with how much we love Elephant and Piggie.
Should I Share My Ice Cream?– Well, just when you thought it was over… Another Mo Willems book! Elephant and Piggie crack us up.
Chapter Books
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Books– One of my favorite memories of my little brother was watching him learn to love reading. This was all because of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I loved seeing him read and giggle time and time again!
The Twits– My mom read this book to my brother and I as a bedtime story. We all spent time giggling and gagging over this hilarious book.
The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate
The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg
Now for the teen books! These would be great for adults to read too. I love reading a good teen book and love that giving a teenager a book for Christmas can still be something special for them.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns Series
Stargirl– This is a beloved book in our family. I still remember when my husband first read it. It changed him!
The Notebook– I read this as a teenager and completely obsessed over it. The movie is great, but I LOVE the book!
The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate
The books for adults come next! If you are in need of a great book to curl up and read this winter, choose one of these favorites.
If You Can’t Fail, It Doesn’t Count– I can’t help but be a little biased about this book. My husband wrote it! It is a really inspirational book about the importance failure plays in true success.
The Hiding Place– All. Time. Favorite. Book. EVER! There isn’t much more to say other than that. This book makes you so grateful for everything you have.
The Idiot Girls’ Action-Adventure Club
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up– I am almost done reading this book and it has already started to change my life! Everyone needs to read this book!
The Busy Girl’s Guide to Makeup– This is my book. I had to include it! This is a perfect book for any girl/woman who wants to learn more about makeup. There are tips about the type of makeup to wear depending on your age, quick makeup tips, and plenty of inspiration for you to create great looks of your own!
That Extra Half an Inch– My husband gave me this book by Victoria Beckham and it totally inspired me to be a better version of myself all around!
A History of the World in 100 Objects
To Kill a Mockingbird– It is obvious that I love this book. I named my daughter after Harper Lee. This book totally changed me and everyone should read it at some point in their life.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Enchantment: The Life of Audrey Hepburn– This book is perfectly titled. Everything about the life of Audrey Hepburn was completely enchanting. I absolutely loved reading this book and loved learning more about someone who I have idolized my entire life.
Poke the Box– This book inspired my husband to write his book! It could inspire you to do something great too.

I gotta tell you, my favorite books are the ones that were written or based in the early 1900's. There's nothing like a real classic. I've been reading a Dickens novel, a novel by one of the Bronte sisters, and my favorite books of all time would have to be the Anne of Green Gables series by Montgomery. I rarely look at books that have come out recently - meaning the past thirty or forty years. But - it looks like you have some good ones here and I really like the post anyway! Your posts always inspire me.
