Etched Glass Votives

Happy New Year!
I love taking something that isn’t normally a home decor item and turning it into one. One of my favorite things to see during the Christmas/winter season is the contrast of lights with the dark sky. It gets dark very early now, so it is a tie to really be able to appreciate that. Finding decor that can fit in with both Christmas and winter is difficult, but I think decorating with items that add more light during the winter gives it a great, cozy feel.
I decided to make some fun little votives out of old baby food jars that I had. I have been wanting to find a use for them and this does the trick! Here is what you need for your own…
*baby food jars
*tea lights or electric tea lights
*accent color of vinyl (mine is gold)
*scissors or paper cutter
Cut the vinyl that will be in the background down to size so it can go around your jar. Mine was 7.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The accent colored vinyl needs to be a little smaller so you can see both colors. I cut it to be 7.5 inches long and 1 inch wide.
Stick your edged glass vinyl onto your jar. It doesn’t have to be totally perfect because the other vinyl will help cover any imperfections.
Put the other vinyl strip on top of the edged glass vinyl.
Make as many as you want to put all over in your house. These make great party and wedding accents too! They are so easy, and take very little time and money!
