Can you believe it is October already? Getting out the Halloween decor was an exciting and depressing mix of emotions. I love the Summer heat and the freedom that we have to enjoy our days without crazy schedules. On the flip side, I love the structure that the Fall season brings along with all of the upcoming holidays and crafts that come along with the holidays. I guess I won’t ever be totally satisfied! One thing to be happy about? My Halloween mantel this year. I love it! It is the first year that I can have a real Halloween display this large.
I find myself walking by and just staring at it. I love how it turned out!
I lined my door shelf with orange polka dot wrapping paper to give it a splash of color and something to build on as a background. I found the lace at JoAnn fabric and taped it onto the wrapping paper. I made the wreath (tutorial is later in this post) and I made the countdown pumpkin as well. The candy corns were a hand me down from my mom. The spider web place mat was found at the dollar store. The trick or treat sign was a Hobby Lobby find a few years ago. The black vase was purchased at Downeast Home a few years ago. The Halloween box was a prize I won from Aunt Elsie’s at Gardner Village. How do you think it turned out?
Now for the wreath. It was so easy!
1. You need…
Wreath
Black fabric
Black Tulle
Scissors
Rotary Cutter (optional)
Glue Gun
Buttons
Mini Witch Hat
Feathers
2. Cut your black fabric into strips
3. Wrap your wreath with the fabric strips. Glue the fabric down as you go.
4. Wrap the tulle around the wreath, leaving it a little airy and fluffy.
5. Put another layer of tulle where the wreath needs more volume.
6. Place hat and feathers where you want them and glue them to the wreath. Add buttons and accessories as you wish!
