How I plan to set New Year’s Resolutions

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™

I am a believer in goal setting. I like striving for things that I put my mind to. I am not always very good at setting the right types of goals though. Sometimes I set the bar too high and I am disappointed when I don’t reach that goal or other times I don’t set the bar high enough. I think the most important part is that I am actually setting the goals. It doesn’t really matter if I am perfect at setting the goals, I am just glad that I am actually setting them.

I have been in the beginning stages of setting 2017 goals for myself and for my business. I love the prospect that each new year brings when setting goals. There is a fresh start and I can work to achieve the goals I set, without having to dwell on what I did or didn’t do the previous year. There is going to be a lot of change for our family in 2017. The first major change will be happening right after the new year when baby sister comes. One goal that I have set is to be more prepared for her birth than I was for the first. The first time, we were caught by complete surprise when my water broke at 36 weeks. I didn’t have a hospital bag packed, we barely had a crib set up, and we were pretty naive about pretty much everything. I am working to be more prepared this time around so that all of history doesn’t have to repeat itself.

Family Gift Ideas Everyone Will Enjoy

This holiday season, I’m swapping gifts with another blogger for her entire family for eBay’s holiday gift exchange. I’ve partnered with eBay to create this post! Enjoy!

I still remember receiving family gifts when I was younger. It may sound strange, but the thoughts of getting a gift as a family was almost more exciting to me than getting an individual gift! It was always such a mystery to see what gift would fit our entire family. It was so much fun to see what the gift givers thought our family would enjoy. Those gifts still go down as some of my favorite gifts I have ever been able to enjoy!

I love the idea of giving a family gift. Instead of purchasing several smaller gifts, you can put your entire gifting budget to one big item that everyone can enjoy. Most of those bigger ticket items aren’t things that families would typically think to spend their own money on, so they make really great gifts!

I put together a few suggestions to help you find the perfect gift when you need family gift ideas!

Get Your Hair Through the Dry Months

This content was sponsored by Aussie but all thoughts and opinions are my own. I hope you enjoy following along! #ad

My hair really suffers this time of year. Once the summer is gone and autumn comes, my hair seems to take a nice break and can be pretty healthy. Once autumn starts going away and the cold, dry winter sets in it is another story. My hair gets incredibly dry and brittle during the winter. I love finding products that can help get my hair through these cold, winter months. Recently, I had the opportunity to try out a variety of Aussie Hair products and I was really impressed by them!

Avoiding Illness this Cold Season

I’m sharing #Ricola  in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™

I had a really great Thanksgiving with my family. We spent the week at my parents’ house and my brother soon joined us with his family. It was so great to get to spend time with all of them, but as the week progressed we noticed a trend happening. We were all starting to sound the same. Our voices were starting to sound sick! Sharing the same house for the week meant that we were sharing the same germs too.

I tried to wash my hands constantly and get enough sleep, but I just couldn’t get on top of the illness. My body’s immune system is lower than it usually is because my body is working extra hard with my pregnancy. It didn’t take much to get me sick and once I started getting sick, it continued to get worse. By the time we got home from our Thanksgiving with family, I was feeling like I had about the worst cold I have ever had!

Cyber Week is Here!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Toys“R“Us . All opinions are 100% mine.

Can you even believe that the holiday shopping has officially begun? Black Friday has come and gone and Cyber Week is officially here to play!

One of my most fond holiday memories as a child was getting the Toys”R”Us holiday catalog. I would read over it time and time again, with my pen in hand. As I saw things I loved, I would circle them. By the time Christmas came around, nearly everything in the catalog was circled because I would find new treasures to circle each time I looked over those blessed pages.

I love watching as my daughter can Get Inspired and experiences that same magic as she looks through the Great Big Toys”R”Us Book of Awesome herself!

Peace of Mind When Kids are Sick

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of TempTraq. All opinions are 100% mine.

Unfortunately, the time of year has come upon us. That time of year when illness seems to be making its waves through each family. If you are lucky, you family will only get hit by an illness once during cold and flu season. We don’t ever seem to be that lucky at our house! I hate seeing my child sick. As a mom, I feel so helpless!

It also seems to never fail that I am the next one to get sick after taking care of a sick child. I think a huge reason why I get sick is because I don’t sleep very much when I have a sick kid to take care of. Even when that child is sleeping, I feel the constant need to check on them and make sure they are alright. It gets exhausting really quickly! [Read more…]

Confessions of a Beauty School Student’s Damaged Hair

This post is sponsored by Savings.com

Beauty school was one of the most influential times of my entire life. It was 2000 hours of hard work, learning, and creating some of the greatest friendships I have ever had. There are so many memories that I hold dear because of beauty school.

Protecting My Family

Sophos provided me with compensation in exchange for this post. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

When I started blogging nearly seven years ago, there were a lot of things I didn’t know. I didn’t know that it would eventually become my full time job. I didn’t know that I would make some of my best friends because of blogging. I didn’t know that blogging would push me to be more creative. All of those things are things that I probably have kind of looked into the future to see a glimpse of, but the thing that I definitely didn’t know when I started sharing my life on the internet is the dangers that happen because of it. When I started blogging, I didn’t know that there would be creeps and hackers trying to invade on my life. I am kind of glad that I didn’t know that because I probably would have been too scared to move forward if I would have known.

The first major invasion of privacy happened about five years ago. I started receiving strange comments that then turned into strange emails. They were from someone who was objectifying my body and it made me so sick. I wanted to quit. I had worked incredibly hard to get my site where it was, but I was willing to give it all up to make it end. It made me sick to think that this person, and more people like this person, could do that to me or to my family. With some help from law enforcement and my tech savvy and supportive husband, we were able to get through that trial.

I became much more careful about what I was sharing online. I focused a lot more on sharing object photos and didn’t share much about myself or my family. Then one day I realized that I just wasn’t happy doing that. I wanted my life to be part of my site and my site to be part of my life. I took a giant leap of faith and started to get more personal again.
