Teaching Kids to Have Confidence

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™

Watching the Olympics as a family has become one of our favorite things to do together lately. Hearing the stories of each of the athletes is really inspiring. There is so much time and dedication that has gone into getting where they are. As inspiring as those stories are, I can’t help but think of the people who worked hard to get to the Olympics and didn’t make the team. I would imagine that their entire lives have revolved around getting onto the Olympic team as well. Besides the devastating disappointment that they probably experienced, I would imagine that these athletes went through a series of hard emotions that they had to go through. I think that that would be the same for the parents of those athletes as well. Seeing our kids fail can be a really hard thing to witness.

I have only been a mom for 4 1/2 years now. I know that I haven’t seen my child or future children go through most of the disappointments of life that they will experience, but what I can do now is instill the confidence within her to get through those tough times that are sure to come.  [Read more…]

How to take care of little girl curly hair VIDEO

This post contains affiliate links, but is in no other way sponsored.

Little girl curly hair can be a major source of frustration for parents who haven’t had much experience with curly hair. We filmed a video full of little girl curly hair tips a while back but since Harper’s hair has changed a lot in terms of texture since then, we decided it was time for a sequel to or original video!

Little Girl Curly Hair Tips on www.girllovesglam.com

The reason we decided it was time for a new video was because the first time, Harper’s hair was much more fine and we weren’t really needing to use many hair products in it. Her hair is out of the baby/toddler phase and is definitely little girl hair now. [Read more…]

Adding Color to a Space (without going overboard)

Color scares a lot of people. I am not afraid to admit that I was totally afraid of color for a long time. I grew up loving color and I think that my brightly colored bedrooms may have scared me for life as an adult because too much color would scare me like crazy! Thankfully neutral rooms are in style because I rocked that (and however else my mom would help me decorate) for a long time. Over the years, I came into my own style and realized that color isn’t as scary as I had originally thought. You don’t have to commit to painting an entire wall a bright color in order to introduce a good amount of color into a room.

How to Choose the Perfect Watermelon

Have you ever seen that viral video going around of the hippo eating the watermelons? I can totally relate to that hippo. I LOVE watermelon. My husband told me that he thinks that in our 8 years of marriage, I alone have eaten over 15 watermelons and he has only eaten about 2. What can I say? It is nature’s candy and I will partake! Over the years, I have learned a few tricks to choosing the perfect watermelon and I want to share these tips with you, as long as you don’t take all of the good ones away from me.

How to Wear a Dress with Sneakers

There is nothing that makes me feel more like a stylish mom on the go than wearing a dress with sneakers. I love that the dress makes me feel a little more polished, but I have the ease to move around in tennis shoes.

Home Preschool Ideas and ABC Printable

When we moved in September, we had promised Harper that she could go to preschool when we lived at our new house. She was so excited! During one of Dave’s interviews, we went and toured two preschools that we were considering. Unfortunately, neither of them worked out because of price and distance from our house. Every other preschool was already full. We came way too late in the game and I was left with a devastated three year old who just wanted to go to preschool.

We already were doing a few little things at home to help her learn some of the things she would learn in preschool, but I knew that I needed to have more structure than that since she wouldn’t be getting traditional preschool right away. I had no plans of home schooling and I wouldn’t even call what we have been doing “home school”. We have just simply added “preschool activity” to her chore chart so that we are all held accountable for getting in some sort of preschool activity each day. I have seen her develop a lot overtime and I am so glad that I didn’t put off the learning until she could go to traditional preschool. She will be going to preschool this Fall and she will be very prepared to learn even more.

I just wanted to share a few home preschool ideas so that if you are in the same boat as me and just want to make sure your child is getting some education at home, you can use these ideas!

Finding Stylish and Practical Style

This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for supporting them and helping keep Girl Loves Glam a reality.

I can honestly say that I have never taken to the internet to see how to wear a specific style of clothing. I have always just kind of trusted my gut and dressed in a way that makes me feel confident, but also fits my lifestyle. I can’t help but notice the amount of pictures I see on social media of moms wearing insanely high heels who are chasing after their kids. That just doesn’t seem authentic in any way. I can’t relate to that at all. I love a good heel, but it has got to be practical too. I would call my overall style practical and stylish. I wear things that I feel good in, but I can also play on a playground in my clothes.
