I just can’t even imagine the feelings that her parents have had to feel watching their sweet daughter have to go through treatments.  [Read more…]

Taking a Makeup Break

Sometimes I need a little break. I know all moms feel this way. Although we don’t always get the luxury of getting a break from our demanding lives, we need to find little things in our day to day schedule that we can take away to give ourselves a break from a few things that demand our time. Give ourselves a little rest and relaxation before we find ourselves wiping another dirty bum or scrubbing an unknown substance off of the floor we just finished mopping up. We live glamorous lives, right?

One thing I like to give myself a little break with is my makeup. I know, I know… I have a freaking makeup book! I am quoted on my feelings about how important I think it is for our self esteems to wear makeup and to feel beautiful, but I also think there comes a time that we need to take a makeup break. I am totally included in this. Today I took a makeup break. I do this once and a while. Most of the time I do this on the days that I know that I will just be home and not really see anyone. Today was different. I went and ran errands and was home, but I had a lot of people over at my house. Guess what? The world didn’t end. I lived to go through it and I didn’t even feel embarrassed. I still did my hair and got dressed for the day and was able to still feel like I was done up for the day without my makeup on. I was able to rely on more than just my makeup for my self esteem.

There are more benefits about breaking up with your makeup than just taking a break and working on your self esteem. It is also really great for your skin! When you stop concealing your skin, you can start healing!

break up with your makeup

About 16 million Americans suffer from rosacea. When we are just covering up the redness with makeup, we aren’t treating it at all. It can be really expensive to find products to cover it up. It is important to treat rosacea and take a little break from your makeup instead of just covering up our issues with makeup. There is a fabulous product created by Galderma Labratories L.P. called Mirvaso® Gel that is the first and only gel specifically developed and proven to reduce redness from rosacea! Now instead of just concealing, you can heal!

Mirvaso is easy to use, lasts up to 12 hours, and the results can be seen quickly. You can let your newly gorgeous skin shine through instead of just your makeup! Take a day to break up with your makeup and let your skin heal.

Mirvaso is also doing an awesome Emmy Awards Show ticket giveaway that you cannot miss out on! You can enter their giveaway HERE.

What Mom REALLY Wants

Moms earn Mother’s Day. Just this morning I found myself in that frustrated state that many moms find themselves in on a daily basis. I was trying to get work done on my computer and decided to put a show on my laptop for my two year old bossy pants. She wanted to watch Little Einsteins. Instead of going on a rant about how much I dislike that show, I will just tell you that I tricked her and put Sophia the First on instead. She was NOT happy with me. When I say not happy, what I actually mean is that she had a full on temper tantrum. She had huge tears running down her deliciously chubby cheeks and would look at me like I had totally betrayed her. I helped her calm down a little and guess what happened? She fell into a trance and realized that she loves Sophia the First! Mom always knows best, right?

It is the little moments like the Sophia the First argument that make me think about how difficult being a mom can really be. It can sometimes be a whole series of these events that happen throughout the day that make moms exhausted! When we are in the middle of those moments, it seems like that is the biggest deal in the world and also the most frustrating situation in the world. It is after the kids have gone to bed that moms can look back and laugh about those small “crisis” moments that happen everyday. Being a mom is being a coach, a teacher, a counselor, a beautician, a shoulder to cry on, a chef, a friend, and so much more than that. Moms rock.

It is important to celebrate moms. That is why I am a firm believer in celebrating yourself as a mom as well! Spoil yourself a little for Mother’s Day this year.

RedEnvelope was the perfect place for me to do a little spoiling of myself. I literally love every single thing on their site, but I chose this amazingly gorgeous bowl as my early Mother’s Day self spoiling gift this year.

Red Envelope Turquoise Bowl

Isn’t it delicious? I chose this bowl because I have a very exciting kitchen update that is happening in the near future! This bowl will be the perfect accent piece in my soon to be newly beautiful kitchen.

Turquoise Wooden Bowl from Red Envelope

I have loved being able to see this gorgeous bowl in my house because it is a nice little reminder that even though I may not be doing everything right, I am trying. That little reward to myself is the little push I needed to get through some of those tough days that happen.

I think all moms deserve to be spoiled with something gorgeous from RedEnvelope. My mom is probably the hardest working person I know. She works constantly and when she isn’t working, she babysits for me so that I can have a date night. She is the best. She deserves something gorgeous too. I want to know why you deserve something special. Let’s face it. Our days aren’t all perfect, but the gifts we gift to ourselves or our moms can be!

To celebrate moms in a really special way, RedEnvelope is giving away 3 $500 gift cards! To enter, use the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!

The happiest place on Earth

Disneyland. It’s the place where every kid dreams of visiting and every parent dreams of taking their kids. I am one of the lucky kids who got to go to Disneyland as a kid. It really is one of the happiest places on earth. I felt like I could just be a kid when I was there.

My husband never went to Disneyland as a kid. It has now become a bigger dream for me to take him to Disneyland than it is for me to take my daughter to Disneyland. I think everyone needs to go to Disneyland in their lifetime! I think that there is a Disney trip in the works for next year and I couldn’t be any more excited about it. Having a 3 year old will make it even more magical.

One of the other happiest places on earth for me, is San Diego. If you have never been to San Diego, book your trip now. It is seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I got to spend some time in San Diego before I went on a cruise 7 years ago. My heart longs for that gorgeous San Diego sun every time it snows here at home.

What’s In My Bag?

This post is sponsored by Kleenex Brand. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think you can learn a lot about a person by the items that they carry in their bag. I thought it would be fun to take a look in my purse so you can learn a little bit more about me.

What's in my bag

First off, could my purse be any cuter? I love it, except it doesn’t always stay closed because I have so much stuff in there. Now to see what I carry in my bag!

What is in my bag Girl Loves Glam

Wallet- I have owned this wallet from The Buckle for years and still get compliments on it. It is one accessory I have owned for several years and still love.

Lotion- I always feel like my hands feel the most dry when I am running errands. Maybe it is the cold, dry Idaho weather. This lotion comes in handy all of the time. Sometimes it has other uses. Like today, it was used to help slick my daughter’s crazy hair down when we were running errands. You just never know when you will need lotion!

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel- This comes in handy with a toddler and with nasty shopping carts!

Sunglasses- I can’t leave the house without sunglasses. AND a case for them. I have had far too many sunglass casualties from them not being in a case.

Business cards- You just never know when you are going to need a business card. No matter what industry you are in, you need your business cards with you at all times!

Pen- Keep in mind that this isn’t the only pen floating around in my purse. I actually have an entire army of pens floating around in there. If I only have one pen, I can’t ever find it when I need a pen! P.S. I am a total pen snob. Is that weird? Please tell me there are other pen snobs out there. This pen (I actually have it in a few other colors too) is my favorite pen of all time.

Luna S’mores bar- I ALWAYS have one of these protein bars in my purse. They are huge lifesavers for me. When I am starving and just want to stop and get a cheapo cheeseburger, I can eat this instead and it totally holds me over until I can get something healthier. These come in handy too when I have an angry shopping toddler. She loves these bars.

Compact mirror- To check if there is anything between my teeth or to make sure my lipstick isn’t all over my face.

Tape measure- That might seem weird to you, but how many times have you been out looking for decor items and can’t decide if you want it because you aren’t sure if it will fit your space? This tape measure doubles as toddler entertainment too. It’s pretty much a win/win.

Lipstick and Lip gloss- This is like the pen situation. These two that are photographed are just a representation of the random assortment of lipstick and lip glosses floating around in my purse. Sometimes I need pink, other times red, and on occasion I just need a little gloss. I need to have options!

Phone- I mean, does this one really even need to be addressed? Don’t we all feel naked when we don’t have our phones with us?

Planner- You may or may not know this about me. I am a big time planner. Like OCD planner. I like to have a plan. I have things scheduled on my blog calendar, my church calendar, my phone calendar, and this planner in my purse marries them all together so I can keep my life straight and stay somewhat sane.

Kleenex tissues- I saved this one for last because it might seem weird, but I am a firm believer that after the wallet and the cell phone, having tissues in my purse is the next most important thing in my purse. I have allergies all year long. My husband told me that I blow my nose more than anyone he has ever met. That is probably true. These come in handy when there are messy toddler hands too. I swear by this.

The great thing about choosing Kleenex Brand for my purse, is they have adorable designs too. They have several colors to choose from so you can even match your purse or wallet if you want! Check out the designs they offer and see what one fits you best HERE.

Did you know that Kleenex brand is turning 90 this year? They are celebrating in a big way by hosting a huge reveal event on March 17 at Grand Central Station in NYC where they will be unveiling the new Kleenex brand designs live with Isaac Mizrahi! I will be there! If you want a chance to be there too, go enter NOW! The contest ends tonight. Enter by going to this link HERE. I hope to see you in NYC!

So what do you think of what I carry in my bag? Anything weird? What do you carry in your bag?
