No Sew Willy Wonka Costume for Girls

This year’s Willy Wonka family costume theme has been my favorite family themed costume we have ever done. I loved making each of the costumes! Today, I am sharing the main man himself, Willy Wonka! Only there is a slight twist. It is a Willy Wonka costume for girls! If you missed the Wonka Bar costume and the Golden Ticket costume, check those out too!

I love that my daughter is willing to dress up as a male character, but knows that I will make it feel girly enough for her personality. I just love how all of the details came together to feel like a Willy Wonka costume, but with a girl twist!  [Read more…]

Educational Apps and Websites We Love

We are huge advocates of educational apps and games. We have used them for years! Sometimes screen time can be a delicate balance, but if there is plenty of educational screen time happening, I don’t mind more screen time. We have tried lots of different learning apps and websites, but I wanted to feature our top 3 favorites.

Back to School Clothes: Choosing Quality Pieces

This post is brought to you by Abercrombie Kids. While this was a sponsored opportunity, all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

If I have learned one important lesson about children’s clothes, it’s that choosing quality pieces is so important! Kids can be really hard on their clothes and if the clothes aren’t made to last, they aren’t going to last. If I am going to be spending my hard earned money on back to school clothes, I want them to make it through the school year. This has become even more important to me since having a second daughter. I know that any clothes that last through the first one can be passed down to the second one. As my younger daughter has grown into more clothes of her sister’s, you can definitely tell what items were made to stand the test of time and which ones were a total waste of money. That is why we did our back to school shopping at Abercrombie Kids this year. The jeans at Abercrombie Kids are super high quality and I know they’ll make it through the years.

Summer Boredom Idea Box

We were given the Nintendo and Lego items for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It is officially the second day of summer break here and I didn’t want to hear the dreaded words, “I’m bored” all summer! I prepared ahead of time and created what we are calling, the Summer Boredom Box this year. It is a summer boredom idea box that is used as a reward system for when chores get done.

I wanted it to be used as a reward system, so that we were sure to get chores done before anything else. I also wanted it to be kept in a box that only one thing is taken out each day, so that everything is looked at as a novelty. Some days, we will be going out and doing fun activities after chores are done, so the box won’t be necessary on those days. But I will tell you, being on day 2 of summer break, I am already grateful that we have this box of goodies! [Read more…]

Where to Buy Stylish Disney Clothes

Before I became a mom, I swore I would NEVER buy my child character clothes or shoes. It seemed to me that every item of clothing I would see with a character on it was so dang cheesy! Then I got a little girl who became obsessed with characters. We started the character clothes with just her socks. I let her have character socks and she loved it! But soon she was wanting more. So I started opening my mind up to the thoughts of putting character clothes on my child. Once I became open to it, I started finding hidden gems! Character clothes that didn’t have cheesy phrases on them or screamed “Look at me! I love this character!” and both mom and child could be happy!

Over the years, I have been asked a lot about where I find character clothes for my kids. Sometimes I have wanted to keep it a secret, but I decided to finally share my secrets with you. Cause no mom deserves to have to put cheesy character clothes on their kids! [Read more…]

Spring Style for the Family

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sponsored by Payless ShoeSource. All opinions are 100% mine.

This post is sponsored by Payless ShoeSource. All thoughts and opinions are my own. When I was growing up, I would get a new Easter outfit to wear each year. It was something I looked forward to every year. I knew that I wanted to continue that tradition for my own family and it has quickly become a favorite part of each year! I always am sure to shop smart and get items that we can wear all Spring season.

These Shoes Were Made for Walking, Literally!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Surprize by Stride Rite. All opinions are 100% mine.

Zoey has been able to walk for about a month now, but it wasn’t until the last week that she has decided to walk everywhere! Now her busy little feet don’t stop moving! With the second child, she is constantly wearing hand-me-downs from her older sister, but the shoes that her older sister wore at this stage of her life were totally trashed! New walkers want to do nothing but walk and they are actually pretty hard on their little shoes, especially if they aren’t very well made. Thankfully, I have learned over the years what brands of shoes I can count on.

With as much walking as she does and the amount of different terrain that she seems to venture in, I thought it was important to get her some quality shoes. [Read more…]

Connecting Over a Classic

There are so many times when you will hear adults complain over the amount of time that kids are spending in front of screens. If we are being honest with ourselves, the problem isn’t usually with the kids… it’s with the adults. Kids are sponges. When they see adults spending the majority of their days in front of screens, what do you think the kids are going to want to do? Rather than complaining about the amount of time that kids are spending in front of a screen, its important for the adults to put their own screens away to be the example.

Classic Legos

Over the past 2 1/2 years, I have tried really hard to make time each day to put away my phone and just spend time with my kids. Does it happen every single day? Unfortunately, it does not. BUT I am making the effort to let it happen on a pretty regular basis. That is why I loved the concept of National Day of Unplugging when I heard about it. It is a day where unplugging is literally celebrated! When I was asked to join in on unplugging with LEGO, I just knew I had to join!  [Read more…]

How to Make a Shirt With Many Types of Vinyl: 100 Day of School Shirt

It was the 100 day of school recently and we had to make a shirt with 100 of something on it. When I talked with my kindergartner, she instantly knew she wanted 100 hearts on her shirt! Instead of cutting and gluing 100 hearts on a shirt, I wanted to make a shirt that she could wear again and again… without totally wasting a shirt.
