Whole30 Breakfast Sausage Skillet Hash

We are on day 16 of Whole30 and I must say, Whole30 has been a much more positive experience this time around than it was for me last year! There are a lot of reasons for this, but one of them is that I am much more comfortable with Whole30 compliant foods and feel comfortable enough to even adapt other recipes or create recipes of my own! This Whole30 Breakfast Sausage Skillet Hash might be my favorite creation to date. It is delicious! For those of you who aren’t following Whole30 standards, it is still really good!

This dish is incredibly filling and really is a great way to start your morning. For me, the sausage in this meal was a really nice break from the other Whole30 breakfasts that we typically have. Many of you have made comments about my husband’s noticeable weight loss that has occurred this year. He has lost over 50 lbs since May! While I have been been putting on the baby weight, he has been focusing on his health in a major way and has lost more weight than our four year old weighs!

One of the things that Dave has really changed has been how he eats. Going from someone who drank a lot of Dr. Pepper everyday to someone who loves to stay home and make delicious, healthy food is a pretty huge transformation itself!

As you probably already know, my family has made some pretty big changes in the past year. We have wanted to be healthy for quite a while, but it wasn’t until the past year that we really took that goal seriously and made some major changes for our family. Introducing more Vitamin C into my diet

Last time I went to my doctor, he told me that pregnant women have the tendency of getting sick during the fall and winter months. He suggested drinking a lot of water and making sure that I had plenty of vitamin c in my diet. Teaching Kids to Love Themselves

As you may recall, I touched a bit about the weight of responsibility that I have felt over teaching my child to be confident and bold in who she is. It was one thing that I never thought about when I looked into the future and thought about what life might be like as mother. Although she is only four years old, I want my daughter to grow up loving herself from the beginning so that she doesn’t have to create that self love later on.

Today she was given the opportunity to give a little talk in church about treating our bodies well. I had helped her get the talk ready and I truly hope that the message came across to her as we practiced and as she spoke today. The message she shared was that she was born prematurely and wasn’t a healthy baby but through the help of the NICU nurses, she was able to come home as a healthy baby. She had to continue to work to be healthy so that she could grow up to be the healthy little girl that she is today. She talked about how our bodies are gifts and that we need to treat them with kindness in both how we treat them and how we speak about them. Although it was just a little talk given to small children by a four year old, I hope the spirit of the message came across clearly.
