I am SO excited to announce something pretty huge coming this year! After receiving several requests to share bath bomb recipes, I will be sharing a new bath bomb recipe once a month! Each month in 2017, I will bring a new bath bomb recipe that is themed for the month. I have some really fun bath bomb recipes and ideas in the works for you! To kick it all off, I have the perfect bath bomb recipe for cold and flu season! This bath bomb helps clear out sinuses and relieves achy muscles at the same time. They can be used like traditional bath bombs or they can be put in the shower to steam up and clear out your sinuses if taking baths isn’t your thing.
Getting gifts for your kids to give to their friends for Christmas can get SO expensive! My daughter really wanted to give her friends something for Christmas, but when you are four years old the concept of money isn’t quite there. We finally agreed on giving her friends some handmade ornaments. I was trying to come up with a cute ornament that could be personal, but easy and cost effective as well and I remembered Shrinky Dinks! I used to make different creations with Shrinky Dinks as a kid and I knew they would be perfect to make ornaments with too! The best part is that each ornament ended up costing about 50 cents each to make!
To make these, I used the print and cut option on my Silhouette Cameo machine. This made making these incredibly easy because I printed them out and just had the Silhouette cut them out for me and they looked great! Of course, if you don’t have a Silhouette Cameo, you could print off your own design on the Shrinky Dinks and cut them out yourself, just know it will take you much longer and they won’t look as crisp. But it can be done! [Read more…]
We are in full blown nesting mode at our house, trying to get ready for baby number two. Part of our plan to make room for baby was to move the queen sized bed in the guest bedroom into Harper’s room so that the guest bedroom could become baby’s room. The guests will still get to sleep in the queen bed when they come to visit and Harper will sleep on the air mattress. It took a little convincing but she finally got excited about getting a big bed. Part of getting her excited was telling her that we could give her room a little makeover at the same time. We pretty much just decorated her room since we have only been in this house for a year, but there were a few other things we could do to make her feel like this was a special experience for her and she wasn’t just getting kicked out of her little bed. One of the things that we decided to do was refinish her dresser. I LOVE how it turned out!

It is Throwback Thursday again! Now that Halloween has come and gone, are you the type to decorate for Thanksgiving or do you jump straight to Christmas? I like to give Thanksgiving its own glory before jumping into Christmas, mostly because I don’t like all of the clutter that comes with Christmas decor and having it up this early would drive me crazy. I like to decorate pretty minimally when it comes to Thanksgiving. It gives me a nice break between the Halloween and Christmas decor. I mostly just keep out the pumpkins that don’t look overly Halloween and then add a few more things to turn it into Fall decor.
One of my favorite pieces of Fall decor that I like to pull out each year is my faux leather Thanksgiving table runner that I made several years ago. It is still a favorite of mine after all of these years and it is today’s Throwback Thursday!
It’s Thursday! Time for another Throwback Thursday, blog post edition. Today features one of the easiest tutorials I have ever posted on my site. This leaf covered pumpkin fall decor is not only easy to create, but it is down right adorable too. I love that it can be used both as Halloween and Fall decor. I don’t have to pack it away once Halloween is over. I really want to find different varieties of leaves and pumpkins to add to my collection as well!
Sometimes finding the best inspiration can be just from looking to the past. People gain inspiration from vintage decor and fashion all of the time, why not let that same inspiration happen with Halloween costumes?
I know it sounds silly, but I have always loved dressing up for Halloween. I think it is because my mom always made it a point to make Halloween special. She always helped in classroom parties and made our costumes. That love of Halloween really rubbed off on me as I grew up.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to take a look back at some of my favorite costumes from Halloweens in the past and hope that they can inspire you this Halloween! I can’t believe how many of these costumes are coming back in style too! [Read more…]
It is officially the time of year that I look forward to each and every year. When I first started making my family costumes, I didn’t mean to create the no sew theme that I did. But I am sure glad that I didn’t start out by sewing every costume because that would have never lasted! If you are new around these parts, this is the 5th year that I have created a new sew costume for my daughter. We end up having a family theme with all of us, but I usually just share the tutorial for her costume. I will be sharing our entire family look later, but today I am excited to show you my very own little Ninja Turtle! Here is my DIY No Sew Ninja Turtle Costume for Girls!
This costume was not only easy to make, but it was so fun too! The best part was definitely putting it on my daughter and seeing her instantly turn into a ninja. Its like she literally thought she was a Ninja Turtle!
Obviously this costume would be pretty easy to turn into a boy’s costume as well. Just don’t include the tutu and the sparkly fabric and you are good to go! Just follow along with the instructions below to create your very own little half shell hero! [Read more…]
If you have been a semi-long time reader, you know that we have a thing for Disney. I mean, who doesn’t? Saying you don’t like Disney is like saying you don’t like Santa Claus! Our love of Disney definitely skyrocketed when we became parents. Our little Disney loving princess made quite the impression on our family. In fact, on a phone call with Dave yesterday the point was made that there was no way he would have known that Minnie Mouse’s nieces were named Millie and Melody prior to being a dad. Gotta love the useless information kids put in our brains sometimes!
Speaking of that Disney loving child, I made her a new little outfit inspired by her favorite Disney diva, Minnie Mouse!
I love creating character inspired clothing because I know I can make it in a way that is modern enough for mom to like, but is character enough for the little to like!
These Minnie Mouse patch pants and shirt were the perfect combination of both! They were insanely easy to create!
Here’s what you need to make your own… [Read more…]
