Pink and Mustard Nursery Design: Zoey’s Nursery Reveal!

I have been so excited about Zoey’s nursery design. I have been planning it for months and I finally was able to finish it so I can share it with all of you! When I found out I was having another little girl, I saw a color design chart with pink, blush, mustard, and charcoal gray. I INSTANTLY fell in love with the color combination and knew I wanted to use those colors in my baby’s nursery.

Home Gym with Little Space and Little Money

“This post is sponsored by Kohl’s.  I was paid for this post and received the included fitness equipment as compensation.”

Exercise has become a huge part of our lives as a family in the past year. My husband lost over 50 lbs this past year, ran a half marathon, and has completely changed the way he lives his life. This has really rubbed off on the rest of our family as well. Although I have always loved exercising, I haven’t ever been great about focusing on eating healthy as well. Now that I am almost done with this pregnancy, I am already planning my eating and exercise plan for once my baby is born.

We decided to create a little home gym so that we could save money on gym memberships and still be able to get our exercise with our new baby at home. We had very little space and little money to create a home gym, but I love our little area that we created!

Isn’t it crazy to look back at the end of the year and think about all of the things that have happened in that calendar year? This year has been a roller coaster of emotions, but I am really grateful for where I am today and where the many trials have brought me and have taught me along the way.

How I plan to set New Year’s Resolutions

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™

I am a believer in goal setting. I like striving for things that I put my mind to. I am not always very good at setting the right types of goals though. Sometimes I set the bar too high and I am disappointed when I don’t reach that goal or other times I don’t set the bar high enough. I think the most important part is that I am actually setting the goals. It doesn’t really matter if I am perfect at setting the goals, I am just glad that I am actually setting them.

I have been in the beginning stages of setting 2017 goals for myself and for my business. I love the prospect that each new year brings when setting goals. There is a fresh start and I can work to achieve the goals I set, without having to dwell on what I did or didn’t do the previous year. There is going to be a lot of change for our family in 2017. The first major change will be happening right after the new year when baby sister comes. One goal that I have set is to be more prepared for her birth than I was for the first. The first time, we were caught by complete surprise when my water broke at 36 weeks. I didn’t have a hospital bag packed, we barely had a crib set up, and we were pretty naive about pretty much everything. I am working to be more prepared this time around so that all of history doesn’t have to repeat itself.

Finding Perfect Gifts for Everyone on Your List

It may seem next to impossible to find the perfect gifts for every person on your list, but I think I have come close to that this year. If you caught my post yesterday, you already know that I love Shutterfly in a nearly unhealthy way. I just think that the quality of products you can find on their site, along with the great deals you can get, and their incredible customer service can’t be matched anywhere else! I love when I can find things that I know that my loved ones will absolutely love AND I can support a company I love so much too! Here are some of the things that I am going to be giving this Christmas and hopefully they will inspire you while you are looking for those perfect gifts!

Our 2016 Christmas Cards

As much as technology has taken over all of our lives, I really appreciate getting traditional mail. I love the act of walking out to the mailbox, pulling out envelopes and opening them up to see what was sent! Everyone knows that this is even better during the holiday season! Seeing family Christmas cards is one of my favorite parts about this season! We have ordered our holiday cards from Shutterfly for the past 7 years! Before we even had kids, I wanted to make it a point to send out cards because I knew that our loved ones would appreciate the thought that went into them.

It is pretty amazing to see how many different styles of holiday cards that Shutterfly has created over the years. There are SO many options now! I usually try a different style each year. This year, we tried out the glitter holiday cards and they are awesome! The sparkle doesn’t rub off and they just make the card look a little more festive!

Helping Children Live Bold Lives

I’m sharing #LISTERINE in my life as part of a LISTERINE® sponsored series for Socialstars™

I still remember this day like it was yesterday. Maybe it is because my four year old won’t let me forget it. It was a day that happened almost two years ago when we went to one of our favorite lunch spots. She was playing with a friend in the play area when both she and the friend came out crying. There was a bully in the playground! I remember thinking that this was the first bully situation I could think of her experiencing and I wanted to help her get through it.

I will tell you now, this was a tough one! The bully was just plain mean! He was pushing kids down and spitting in their faces, screaming in kids faces, and basically just trying to make every other kid cry. His mom came in and told him to stop, but that did absolutely nothing. I told my daughter to go in with her friend and they could play together. If “Mean Carter” came and tried to bother them, they could stand up to him together. Well, that plan failed just as soon as both little girls came out of the playground with tears streaming down their faces.

In that moment, I realized that this was probably a great way for my daughter to be introduced to a bully. Not all bully situations end like they do on television shows. Everyone doesn’t end up being friends in the end and we definitely can’t control other people’s actions. This situation only got worse when the mother of this child tried to get involved with some of the other parents who were trying to help their kids stand up to her son. In the end, we chose to leave and so did many of the other families.

Why do I share this story with you? Because I want to share how we have continued to build on that experience to help give our daughter the confidence she needs to be bold and stand up for herself in situations that she is going to be faced with in her life.

Giving Children Our Time: Light the World with Service

The holiday season can bring a lot of chaos into our lives. When there are so many events and shopping that happens in such a short amount of time, it can be hard to lose sight of what is truly important this holiday season. I love the reminder I received when I watched this video about bringing light to the world by serving others. This holiday season can also be the perfect opportunity to serve. To learn more visit https://www.mormon.org?cid=66200019.

Bumpdate 31 Weeks: Excitement and Mourning

I can’t even believe I am 31 weeks pregnant. Is this real life? If I go full term, I only have 9 weeks left. That is if I go full term! It is pretty insane to think about how much different things are this year than they were a year ago.
