Finding True Friends Through Blogging

I can’t even tell you how much I love that I have found other bloggers in my area. It has been such a blessing to find some of the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for. Growing up, I had a really hard time connecting with girls. In high school, 90% of my friends were boys. I don’t regret that at all. I keep in touch with most of those guys and I still consider them some of the best friends I have ever had. Prepare yourself for a few vintage pictures. I promise I’m not a player. There wasn’t ever any sort of awkward crushes or anything like that.
That brings me to after high school. I went to beauty school. There aren’t many boys there. I had to learn to be friends with girls. Don’t get me wrong, I had some AWESOME girl friends in high school too. I am still friends with a lot of those girls, but for the first time in my life, I had no choice but to have nothing but friends that were girls. Luckily, I found some incredible friends in beauty school. Honestly, I miss that time in my life a lot. We did some crazy things and had a lot of fun. They are still some of my closest friends.
They will probably all want to kill me for posting the first picture. We went to an 80’s dance. After beauty school graduation, we all went off and got married had babies and pursued new careers and moved to far away places. Thank goodness for social media and meet ups that happen about once a year.
After being married, I was happy to have Dave as my best friend and really my only friend. There is nothing wrong with that, but I remember one night crying to him feeling like I had lost all of my hobbies and interests. I didn’t know who I was anymore. Thank goodness, that is when I discovered my Etsy shop. It gave me a purpose again.
I loved being able to work from home and create things that other people loved too. Soon, one thing lead to another and I started blogging. I instantly fell in love with being able to connect with other people online and reading their stories. A lot of my friends were in other states or even other countries. It made me sad to know that I probably wouldn’t ever meet any of them. After what felt like a long time, I finally went to the Snap Conference and met hundreds of women who were just as crazy as I was. And guess what? I found a few in Idaho too!
These Idaho girls have become my best friends (next to Dave, he’ll always be number one). I can’t even tell you how great blogger friends are. If you are a blogger, I encourage you to reach out and find other bloggers that you can connect with online and hopefully find some in your area. Since starting the Idaho Blogger’s Guild, we have been able to connect with each other and do all sorts of fun things in the community. This month, we got to go to the cutest boutique in town. It is called Swagger. She ships too, so if you aren’t local, go check it out! There just isn’t anything quite like getting a little shopping therapy out at a darling boutique with a few other ladies who understand who you are and what it is exactly that you do. Go check out these cute ladies that I get to call my friends’ blogs.
